    摘要: A system for implanting a catheter in a urethra. The system includes a catheter having a valve disposed at a distal portion of the catheter. The valve may be operable in response to an external magnetic field. The system also includes a tool having a tip member extending into an opening at the distal portion of the catheter to couple the tool to the catheter. the system also includes an element extending from the tool. The catheter has an internal path that provides a conduit for the element to be extended through the valve to engage a proximal portion of the catheter. The tool is adapted use the element to stress the catheter and stiffen the catheter along the length of the catheter. Stiffening the catheter facilitates implantation of the catheter in the urethra by enabling pull forces, push forces, and torque forces to be transmitted from the tool through the catheter to the proximal portion of the catheter without undue stress on the urethra. The element is extendible and retractable to position the catheter between stressed and relaxed states while maintaining engagement to the catheter proximal portion. The tool, element and tip member are removable from the catheter after implantation of the catheter in the urethra.

    摘要: A restraint system for a transportation vehicle may comprise a restraint member movably mounted to the vehicle. The restraint member may have a first leg and a second leg that travel together along opposite sides of a seat carried by the vehicle as the restraint member moves relative to the vehicle. A restraint harness may include a retractor that may be mounted to one of the first and second legs, and a lap web having one end mounted within the first retractor and an opposite end mounted to the other of the first and second legs. The lap web may be configured to restrain an occupant of the seat when the restraint member is moved to an occupant restraint position. At least one lock may be mounted to the vehicle and configured to secure the restraint member to the vehicle when the restraint member is in the occupant restraint position.

    摘要: An intraurethral magnetic valve for insertion in the human urethra of a person suffering from incontinence. The intraurethral magnetic valve includes a nonferromagnetic cylindrical housing, a valve seat assembly attached to one end of the housing, a spherical magnetic valve element disposed for universal movement in the housing, and a ring for retaining the valve element which is attached at the other end of the housing. The valve seat assembly has a nonferromagnetic valve seat sealing surface and ferromagnetic ring, each having concentric apertures for passage of fluid. The valve element is maintained in closed check position against the valve seat by attraction to the ferromagnetic ring, restricting the flow of fluid through the valve. An external magnet is used to impart magnetic torque and attraction to the valve element displacing it from the valve seat and opening the valve for fluid flow. On removal of the external magnet, the valve element returns to its closed check position on the valve seat. The intraurethral magnetic valve may further include a mechanism for relieving excessive fluid pressure at the end of the housing having the valve seat assembly, in which the valve seat assembly is axially slidable within the housing, rather than being attached to the housing. The mechanism has a spring disposed in the housing on the side of the valve seat assembly opposite the valve element, between another retaining ring and the valve seat assembly. The spring pushes the valve seat assembly against an annular flange attached to the housing. Under normal conditions, the valve seat assembly engages the annular flange. During excessive hydrostatic pressure, the pressure against the valve element and valve seat assembly compresses the spring to disengage the seat assembly from the annular flange and permit slow release of fluid through a passageway around the valve seat assembly until the excessive pressure is reduced.

Retaining flanges integral with the housing prevent escape of the valve element when valve is open. A manually held external positioned permanent switching magnet induces magnetic torque and attraction on the valve element causing it to rotate within the tubular housing lifting same from the valve seat opening the passageway therethrough and through urethra.
