    摘要: The present invention is a golf club (30) having a club head main body (34) with a hollow interior (49), a support layer 41 defining a depth of a recess (38), a polymer insert (40) in the recess (38), an isolation layer (52) and a weight body (50). The polymer insert (40) is composed of a thermosetting polyurethane material having a Shore D hardness in the range of 42 to 55, and a Bayshore rebound in the range of 51 to 60. The preferred thermosetting polyurethane material is formed from a p-phenylene diisocyanate prepolymer and a curing agent. The golf club (30) is preferably a putter, however, it may be a wood or an iron. The particular thermosetting polyurethane provides a soft striking face for feel and a good rebound for distance. The weight body (50) is preferably composed of a tungsten alloy, and the isolation layer (52) is preferably composed of a thermoplastic polyurethane.

    摘要: A cross-linked thermoplastic polyurea is formed by heating a mixture containing a thermoplastic urethane base material, a monomeric and/or polymeric di-isocyanate comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of the mixture, and a diamine comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of the mixture. A thermoplastic polyurethane may be formed by substituting hydroquinone for the diamine. The mixture is heated to a temperature within the range of 250° F. to 550° F. The heated mixture, which is flowable, is then injected into at least one injection molding device. The mixture is then cured at a temperature between 150° F. to 250° F. for a period of time between 2 and 36 hours. The cross-linked thermoplastic polyurethane/polyurea retains the excellent flowability characteristics of a thermoplastic urethane while the same time exhibits good abrasion, tensile strength, rebound, and compression set characteristics which are similar to those found in thermoset urethanes.

    摘要: A process for forming a cross-linked thermoplastic polymer is disclosed herein. The cross-linked thermoplastic polymer is formed by heating a first mixture containing a thermoplastic urethane base material, a monomeric diisocyanate comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of the first mixture, and a second mixture of a first diamine and a second diamine comprising between 1 to 10% of the total weight of a total reaction product. The heated first mixture, which is flowable, is injected into at least one injection molding device, with the second mixture injected at predetermined intervals to create a homogeneous reaction product.
