Abstract: This liquid crystal display device is configured such that: a polarizing plate having a polarizer for polarizing light is arranged between the substrate of a TFT substrate and a counter substrate; the polarizing plate is provided with a dye polarizer that uses a dichromatic dye; and a wavelength conversion layer for converting the wavelength of light is arranged on the outer side of the polarizing plate when viewed from a liquid crystal layer.
