Abstract:
The instant invention is directed in general to dishwashers and, more specifically, to a non-symmetric heating element/spray-arm alignment within a dishwasher. In a first embodiment of the instant invention, a dishwasher having a washing phase and a drying phase, includes a spray-arm having a center point, rotatably attached within a dishwasher and a heating element having a center point positioned within the dishwasher, where the center point of the heating element and the center point of the spray-arm are offset such that the heating element and the spray-arm are non-symmetrically aligned and the spray-arm is exposed to the heating element in varying regions during drying phases.
Abstract:
A combustor assembly comprises a plurality of circumferentially arranged fuel nozzles, which fuel nozzles have a first end coupled to a combustion chamber and a second end attached to an endcover. The plurality of fuel nozzles define a central region therebetween. A baffle is disposed within the central region. The baffle has an upstream base portion adjacent the endcover and a contoured downstream portion having a width that is smaller with respect to a width of the upstream base portion so as to transition a recirculating flow into a downstream flow to minimize flashback occurrences within the central region.
Abstract:
An X-ray tube includes a housing containing an anode target having a target shaft supported in the housing by a bearing. The target is rotated, and a cathode emits an electron beam against the target to create X-rays which are discharged from the tube through a window therein. The target shaft is integral with the target and extends axially therefrom for conducting heat away from the target and to the shaft without joint heat resistance. The bearing includes a rotor hub to which the target shaft is removably joined and is configured for improving heat conduction to a stator of the bearing for preferentially limiting the temperature thereof.
Abstract:
A portable spark tester for a gas cooking appliance includes a housing having a non-conductive base assembly, and a plurality of electrical conductive cables each having a first end adapted to be attached to an ignition wire for a respective gas burner of the appliance, and a second end which is secured within the housing at a position spaced from a central electrode. This spaced relationship defines a spark gap across which an electrical charge can jump. In use, the spark tester provides a technician with the ability to correctly identify certain non-functioning components of a spark ignition system of the gas appliance.
Abstract:
A spray-arm assembly comprises a convergent base section having a bell mouth, a throat section, and a cylindrical housing that extends axially along the periphery of the throat section, a lower cylindrical conduit section and an upper cylindrical conduit section, and a divergent diffuser section having an entry area and an exit area. In one embodiment of the instant invention, a drainage groove is disposed within the diffuser section in order to facilitate the drainage of excess water from the spray-arm assembly once a washing or rinsing phase of operation is completed. In another embodiment of the instant invention, at least one drainage notch is formed at the mouth of the divergent diffuser section in order to create a drainage passage between the divergent section and the convergent base section. In another embodiment of the instant invention, a plurality of ribs are disposed on an inner bottom surface of the convergent base section so as to provide a temporary collection location for food particles that flow to this location during drainage. Food particles disposed in these ribs can be readily purged from the area during a flush-out mode of operation.
Abstract:
A cooling system for an X-ray system with a bearing assembly having a bearing stator and a bearing rotor, includes a cooling stem disposed within the bearing assembly for dissipation of heat from the X-ray system. The cooling stem has dimensions adapted to be disposed within an axial bore of the bearing assembly. The cooling stem consists of a hollow, tubular housing having a target end, a distal end, and a number of radial fins integral with the outer surface of the tubular housing. The radial fins extend longitudinally from the target end in the direction of the distal end to a transition point. The radial fins, in combination with the outer surface of the tubular housing and the inner surface of the axial bore, form a number of axial channels for channeling a cooling medium from the target end to the distal end in a turbulent flow.
