    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently personalizing or locking a user equipment (UE) for operation with a specific operator. For example, a manufacturer may load multiple operator configurations associated with multiple operators in UE storage such that the UE may support operation with any of the multiple operators. The UE may then allow a user to select an operator from the multiple operators, and the UE may select and apply an operator configuration corresponding to the selected operator to lock the UE for operation with the selected operator. Thus, using these techniques, a user may be able to dynamically personalize or lock a UE for operation with a selected operator. Further, after being personalized or locked for operation with one operator, a UE may be more easily re-personalized or locked for operation with a different operator.

An example method may include identifying that a user equipment (UE) includes a first subscriber identification module (SIM) card in a first card slot of a plurality of card slots of the UE is associated with a first operator and associated with a first subscription for which use of the UE is subject to a contractual obligation to the first operator. The method may further include determining that the UE is in communication with a first radio access network of the first operator and communicating in accordance with a second subscription associated with a second SIM card in a second card slot, the communicating allowed based at least in part on the first SIM card associated with the first operator being in the first card slot and the UE being in communication with the first radio access network.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for recovery techniques for subscriber identification module (SIM) detection error are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine an operating mode for the UE based on a SIM card switch occasion. The SIM card switch occasion may be a “hotswap” occasion of a SIM card while the UE is powered on. The UE may power a SIM card associated with the UE based on the operating mode for the UE and a previous status of a SIM slot associated with the UE. The UE may detect a presence of the SIM card in the SIM slot based on powering the SIM card. The UE may set a SIM sensing operation at the UE based on the detected presence of the SIM card.
