摘要: A novel process of the production and processing of high quality, high T.sub.c BSCCO or (Bi,Pb)SCCO superconductors starts with fabrication of a forming a bundle including a plurality of billets, each billet containing at least one filament comprising a dominant amount of an tetragonal BSCCO phase with selected intermediate phases, and substantially surrounded by a constraining metal. The bundle is thermomechanically consolidated to form a multifilamentary precursor article by applying pressure and heat to the bundle under conditions cooperatively selected to cause interdiffusion of said constraining metal at the interfaces between said metal and said filaments and substantially complete elimination of voids in said bundle, and the consolidation step is completed before any high strain longitudinal deformation is performed on the bundle. The precursor article is then heated at a second selected processing temperature in an inert atmosphere with a second selected oxygen partial pressure for a second selected time period, the second processing temperature, the second time period and the second oxygen partial pressure being cooperatively selected to form a dominant amount of an orthorhombic BSCCO phase in the reacted mixture. It may then be deformed to form an elongated precursor article of a desired texture; and thereafter heated at a third selected processing temperature in an inert atmosphere with a third selected oxygen partial pressure for a third selected time period, all cooperatively selected to convert at least a portion of the orthorhombic BSCCO phase to the final superconducting BSCCO material.

摘要: The invention features high performing composite superconducting oxide articles that can be produced from OPIT precursors substantially without poisoning the superconductor. In general, the superconducting oxide is substantially surrounded by a matrix material. The matrix material contains a first constraining material including a noble metal and a second metal. The second metal is a relatively reducing metal which lowers the overall oxygen activity of the matrix material and the article at a precursor process point prior to oxidation of the second metal. The second metal is substantially converted to a metal oxide dispersed in the matrix during or prior to a first phase conversion heat treatment but after formation of the composite, creating an ODS matrix.

摘要: A draft monitoring device (10) for measuring and displaying the difference between the air speed and the ground speed of a motor vehicle (12). The draft monitoring device (10) includes a ground speed sensor (30) and an air speed sensor (46). Outputs from the ground speed sensor (30) and the air speed sensor (46) are compared to determine the direction and magnitude of the wind in the environment in which the vehicle (12) is being operated. The respective outputs are compared by a processor (64) carried within a housing (56) mounted inside the vehicle (12) in a position such that the driver of the vehicle (12) may easily view a display (68) carried thereon. The air speed sensor (46) is carried in a substantially undisturbed air stream on the front of the motor vehicle (12). The display panel (68) is provided for displaying the instantaneous, peak, and average headwind or tailwind.

摘要: A round bale baling apparatus includes an accumulator for rolling crop material into a round bale, a twine dispenser adapted to hold and dispense twine, and a twine tensioner. The twine tensioner is adjustable and includes an energizable actuator and switch for operating the actuator to adjust the twine tension. Specifically, the switch can be manipulated to selectively decrease tension on the twine during initial gripping of the free end of the twine by a rolling loose bale, and to selectively increase tension on the twine once the twine is sufficiently wrapped onto the bale to provide a secure pulling force. The actuator can be electric, such as a reversible DC motor or solenoid, or can be another energizable device actuable from a remote position. Methods related to the above are also defined.

摘要: A telemetry system is described including a remote unit having a remote input unit coupled to a remote transmit unit. The remote input unit receives one or more sensor output signals and produces a sensor status signal dependent upon the sensor output signals. The sensor status signal alternates between a first state and a second state, wherein an amount of time the sensor status signal remains in the first state is dependent upon one of the sensor output signals. An amount of time the sensor status signal remains in the second state may depend upon sensor output signals from other sensors. The remote transmit unit receives the sensor status signal and transmits a transmit signal each time the sensor status signal transitions between the first and second states. The transmit signal may be a frequency modulated radio frequency carrier signal including a status portion having direction information indicating a direction of the transition between the first and second states. The transmit signal may also have an identification portion including identification information uniquely identifying the remote unit. The telemetry system may also include a base unit coupled to receive the transmit signals transmitted by the remote transmit unit, wherein the base unit is configured to reproduce the sensor status signal from the transmit signals. The base unit may also produce a sensor status from the sensor status signal, and may display the sensor status.
