摘要： The invention relates to a process and to an apparatus for effecting chemical syntheses in gaseous phase, under pressure, in the presence of a solid catalyst, for instance for ammonia synthesis from hydrogen and nitrogen or for the synthesis of methanol or higher homolog alcohols from hydrogen and at least one carbon oxide.The reactor of substantially cylindrical shape contains a plurality of elongate compartments of parallelipiped shape, adjacent to each other, the adjacent walls of the compartments or the common walls of the adjacent compartments being gas-tight walls, said tight walls forming hollow plates wherein are provided channels for the flow of a fluid heat carrier flowing through said walls under a pressure substantially equal to the pressure to which are subjected the reaction gases.

摘要： Stable suspension of a water-soluble polymer comprising solid particles of this water-soluble polymer in a liquid hydrocarbon medium which also comprises a thickening agent selected from the alkali or alkaline-earth metal salts of fatty acids having 6-33 carbon atoms. The resultant suspensions are stable and dissolve easily when dispersed in water; they can be used in enhanced oil recovery. They may also contain minor proportions of water and/or of C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 monoalcohols or C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 diols.

摘要： An ether is prepared by reacting a selected olefin with an alcohol in a two reaction zone system: in the first reaction zone, the catalyst is dispersed in the liquid phase of the reactants and boiling of the mixture is avoided; in the second reaction zone, the catalyst is in a fixed bed. A cooled recycle stream is fed back to the first stage reactor. The catalyst is a sulfonated ion exchange resin in the acid form.
