Abstract: Ternary resin blends which can be cured in order to form a cured resinous material for use as a matrix in composite materials. The ternary resin blends comprise a polyfunctional cyanate ester, an asymmetric bisphenol-derived cyanate ester, and a compound of formula (I) wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are as defined in the specification. A cured resinous material prepared by curing a ternary resin blend, a composite material comprising said cured resinous material, an article comprising said cured resinous material or said composite material, and methods for making the ternary resin blends, cured resinous materials, composite materials and articles are also disclosed.

Abstract: A Z-pin for increasing a delamination resistance of continuous fibre-reinforced polymer composites, formed of a composite material including a polymer matrix, and a plurality of fibres embedded in the polymer matrix and aligned along the length direction of Z-pin, the fibres having an elongation at break of at least 2% and a tensile strength of at least 5 GPa, the polymer matrix having an elongation at break equal to or greater than the elongation at break of the fibres, and a tensile strength of at least 120 MPa.
