    摘要: A wireless binary coded optical data receiver receives the binary encoded data via a photodiode. The binary encoded data is then supplied to the primary winding of a transformer and thus coupled to the secondary winding of the transformer. The secondary winding is coupled to a transimpedance amplifier wherein the transimpedance amplifier buffers the received binary encoded data. The buffered binary encoded data is then amplitude limited by a limiting circuit.

    摘要: Binary encoded data may be detected in a stream of data, by first detecting data transitions. From the detected data transitions, a first pulse is generated when successive data transitions are detected within a predetermined period of time and a second pulse is generated when successive data transitions are not detected within the predetermined period of time. The first and second pulses have the same duration but the amplitude of the first pulses is half of the amplitude of the second pulses. The first and second pulses are filtered by a bandpass filter and compared with a predetermined threshold. When the filtered pulses are above the predetermined threshold, the received stream of data is binary encoded data. When the filtered pulses are below the predetermined threshold, the received stream of data is not binary encoded data.

    摘要: A waveform encoding method and device provide for generating/receiving a power efficient binary intensity modulated optical data signal from a binary source signal which minimizes a time between adjacent pulse transitions and maximizes a pulse peak amplitude for transmission over a low-power wireless infrared link. In generating the signal, the method includes: generating a Q-ary pulse position modulation, Q-PPM, encoded data signal from binary data where Q represents 2.sup.L time slots and L is a predetermined integer representing a predetermined number of binary source bits of the power efficient binary intensity modulated optical data signal; generating an efficient binary intensity modulated signal by increasing the pulse peak amplitude of the Q-PPM encoded data signal by a factor of k, k a predetermined value, and decreasing a pulse width of the Q-PPM encoded data signal by k; and transmitting the efficient binary intensity modulated signal over the low-power wireless infrared link.

From the count, the amount of charge that must be replaced can be determined. As the charge is replaced the count is decremented.

    摘要: An improved FM communication system is disclosed in which noise bursts and pops in the audio output of the receiver, due to weak and Rayleigh-faded signals, are minimized by selectively attenuating the audio signal in the receiver. The amount and rate of attenuation for the receiver noise reduction circuits is determined by a control signal derived form either the average discriminator noise at frequencies above 3 kHz, or from a received RF signal strength indicator, or a combination of both. The audio output is attenuated during weak signals or Rayleigh fades only when the attenuation control signal increases above a predetermined signal-to-noise ratio threshold. Also described are further improvements to noise attenuation devices used in combination with the receiver noise reduction circuits to enhance audio quality in particular applications, e.g., FM repeater systems which may incorporate multiple transmitters in a simulcast configuration.

    摘要: A single sideband communications system conveying a message through a transmitter to one or more predetermined receivers which are enabled by a coded squelch signal unique to the predetermined receivers is disclosed. The transmitter comprises means to angle modulate both the pilot signal and the information bearing single sideband signal with the coded signal at a predetermined deviation and to transmit the resulting signal.Each receiver frequency control means tracks the frequency excursions of a selected portion of the transmitted signal up to predetermined limits so that the message can be demodulated without frequency distortion being introduced. Each receiver demodulates the coded squelch without interfering with the message demodulation or tracking functions and activates the receiver squelch of those preselected receivers.

    摘要: An automatic frequency control circuit for a single side band receiver employing a split-loop phase locked loop system is disclosed. Initially, both a first and second voltage controlled oscillator lock to a received pilot taken after the IF strip of the SSB receiver. Once lock is achieved, a sample is taken of the control line voltage of the first VCO whereafter the first VCO control line is held at the sampled voltage and will no longer track the received pilot until such time as the second VCO deviates from a predetermined range. Simultaneous to switching the first VCO, the loop filter of the second VCO is adapted to maintain identical loop dynamics both before and after switching control of the first VCO.
