    摘要: A method and apparatus for automatically detecting a lubricant type and the relative quantity of water present in a test sample of lubricating oil includes the use of an open grid capacitive sensor element that incorporates the lubricating oil as a dielectric medium. The sensor element grid is energized by a frequency variable oscillator that automatically responds to changes in the oil dielectric constant with corresponding frequency changes. As a reference, a sample of new or uncontaminated test oil is confined in wet surface contact with the energized, open grid sensor element. Oscillator frequency changes are measured and recorded, either continuously or at frequent intervals, over a standardized elapsed time interval to generate a reference characterization of the frequency-time relationship distinctive of the particular oil. The same is repeated for a sample of contaminated oil and a corresponding frequency-time relationship generated. Water affinity rate correlations between frequency change and respective states of moisture content are determined and data base recorded. The affinity rate correlations are applied to the respective frequency differentials between the contaminated oil and uncontaminated oil at the end of the test period. Data bases are also recorded of correlations between natural frequency and sample temperature changes that distinguish lubricants by type, use classification or quantity of additive content.

    摘要: An integrated lubricant analyzer apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing having a first fluid inlet port in flow communication with a chemical analysis device. A second fluid inlet port is included in the housing in flow communication with a particle analyzer. The housing also includes a third fluid inlet port in flow communication with an optical particle counting device. A syringe degassing port is attached to the housing for inverting and degassing a syringe containing a fluid sample for a particle count analysis before the fluid sample is injected into the third fluid inlet port. The apparatus includes a sample analysis sequencing procedure and a microprocessor for collection and manipulation of data from the chemical analysis device, the particle analyzer and the particle counting device. Features of the invention enable a trivector analysis of a fluid for maintaining machinery containing the fluid.

The status information may be used as the basis for further types of status information and/or be categorized in based on an assessment of relative consequence, where each category has a spectrum of status quality values between a good status quality and a relatively worse status quality. The reports are generally displayed via a user interface routine that enables users to view the status information as a graphical representation having a leg of a normalized spectrum of values for each category arranged in order of the relative consequence, the relative status quality value being identified at a point on the respective leg.

    摘要: A system and method for enhancing inspections using infrared cameras through in-field displays and operator-assisted performance calculations. A handheld infrared imaging system typically includes an infrared camera having a programmed computer and an interactive user interface suitable for displaying images and prompting response and accepting input from the infrared camera operator in the field during an inspection. An operator may designate at least one thing of interest on a displayed infrared image; and the programmed computer may uses a performance algorithm to estimate performance associated with the thing of interest. The programmed computer may extract information or parameters from previously measured data—. The programmed computer may vary the way in which it displays new measurements based on the information extracted from the stored data. One or more of the parameters extracted from the IR image may be adapted to provide an automated alert to the user.

A base station is included to collect and analyze data from one or more portable instruments.

For a particular lubrication system, a parameter profile is designated to define all the measurable parameters to be monitored. Parameter values are proportionalized in a finite number of increments between acceptable and unacceptable limits. The worst case parameter of a category is selected to represent that category on a 3-axis, Cartesian graph for placing a data point along the respective category axis.
