Abstract: A system receives digital images of a geographic location, associates each digital image with ground control points in a set of reference stereo images, and associates each digital image to each other digital image via image to image tiepoints. The system updates a geometry of each image via a bundle adjustment, and uses a prioritized stacking order to establish piecewise linear seam lines between each of the images. The system finally builds a prioritized map in a mosaic space specifying the source image pixels that are used in each region of the output mosaic, and forms the mosaic image using the prioritized map.

Abstract: A system mitigates transitions among pixels a mosaic image. The system uses two balancing adjustments and an easing transition adjustment. The first balancing adjustment uses a histogram to remap the pixels in the mosaic to a normal distribution. The second balancing adjustment minimizes transitions between adjacent individual images in the mosaic based on pixels positions of edge pixels and intensity differences between edge pixels in the adjacent images. The easing transitions adjustment modifies the intensity of a target pixel as a function of a radius from the target pixel, the distance between the target pixel and a nearest neighbor pixel, and an intensity difference between the nearest neighbor pixel and a pixel adjacent to the nearest neighbor pixel. A revised mosaic image is created as a function of the first balancing adjustment, the second balancing adjustment, and the easing transition adjustment.

Abstract: Systems and processes for increasing the effective sampling density of a LADAR data set are disclosed. LADAR data points are merged with data regarding edges of objects within the physical space represented by the LADAR data points to form a merged LADAR-edge point cloud. Each data point within the merged LADAR-edge point cloud is examined to identify co-planar neighboring data points within a defined search area. Additional data points are added to the LADAR-edge point cloud by interpolating between the identified, co-planar neighboring data points.
