摘要： A gas diffuser assembly adapted for location in a volume of liquid or semiliquid material for dispersing minute bubbles of gas into the liquid. The assembly includes a housing formed of dense impermeable ceramic material and which defines an upwardly facing recess. A fitting formed of an inert material is located in the floor of the recess for connection to a gas supply tube. A diffuser element formed of porous ceramic material is secured to the housing over the recess to define an enclosed gas chamber. The diffuser disk and the housing are adhered together with a suitable cement.

摘要： A cap-like gas diffuser that produces uniformly sized small bubbles, evenly distributed over the surface of the diffuser is produced by controlling the uniformity of compaction of the particulate material used to form the diffuser during its process of fabrication. Fabrication of the diffuser to provide specified ratios of plenum height to top wall thickness favorably influences attainment of compaction uniformity, as well as reduces diffuser surfaces that contribute to the formation of non-uniform bubbles. Diffusers of the invention made from particulate ceramics are especially useful in treating sewage using the activated sludge process.

摘要： An air-permeable diffuser disc (diffuser element) for use in an air diffuser head for aerating liquids, particularly sewage, characterized by the outer periphery of said permeable disc having a higher density than the balance of said disc, rendering same substantially impermeable, thereby preventing edge leakage which generates larger, undesirable bubbles, by forcing all air to diffuse from the outer, horizontal face of said element into the liquid to be aerated, resulting in a uniform flow of smaller, more effective bubbles.
