The first side includes at least a portion of barcode/RFID electronic circuitry affixed thereto. The second side contains a ground plane for the electronic circuitry. The handheld barcode/RFID reader further includes a patch antenna, electrically coupled to the circuitry, and mounted on the second side of the printed circuit board such that the ground plane of the printed circuit board also provides a ground for the patch antenna.

    摘要: A combination EAS/RFID antenna for use in an EAS/RFID surveillance system. The antenna includes an EAS antenna element and an RFID antenna element. The EAS antenna element includes an EAS loop antenna defining an interior area.     摘要: The present invention provide a motion detection circuit for a handheld item detection system, where the motion detection circuit includes an accelerometer outputting at least one signal corresponding to a measured acceleration. A differentiator differentiates the measured acceleration. A motion detection device evaluates a discriminated version of the acceleration and a discriminated version of the acceleration to determine whether the handheld item detection system is in motion. The present invention extends battery life and allows a handheld system to quickly enter an active operational mode without any user intervention other than handling (moving) the system.

    摘要: A method of deactivating a frequency-dividing-transponder that includes an active strip of magnetic material that, when magnetically biased to be within a predetermined magnetic field intensity range, responds to excitation by electromagnetic radiation of a first predetermined frequency by radiating electromagnetic radiation of a second predetermined frequency that is a frequency-divided quotient of the first predetermined frequency; and a magnetized bias strip of magnetic material having first and second ends and disposed in relation to the active strip of magnetic material for magnetically biasing the active strip of magnetic material to be within the predetermined magnetic field intensity range only when the bias strip of magnetic material is magnetized includes the step of converting the bias strip of magnetic material into a tripole bar magnet, having a pole of one magnetic polarity in a predetermined region of the strip located between the ends of the strip, and having a pole of a different magnetic polarity than the one magnetic polarity at each end of the bias strip to thereby provide opposing magnetic bias fields in opposite longitudinal halves of the active strip for causing any electromagnetic radiation of the second predetermined frequency that is generated in one half of the active strip to be of equal and opposite polarity and thus cancelled by any electromagnetic radiation of the second predetermined frequency that is generated in the other half of the active strip. This is accomplished by laterally passing a magnet across and in close proximity to the bias strip of magnetic material, with the magnet having sufficient flux density to overcome the magnetic bias of the bias strip, and with the magnet being passed across the predetermined region of the bias strip.

    摘要: A multiplexing arrangement for an electronic article surveillance and identification system interconnects a transmitter and a plurality of antennas. The transmitter has first and second terminals and each of the antennas includes an antenna coil. The multiplexing arrangement includes a step down transformer that has a primary winding connected across the first and second terminals of the transmitter, and also has a second winding. A first winding is positioned for inductively coupling with the antenna coil of a first antenna and a second winding is positioned for inductively coupling with the antenna coil of a second antenna. The multiplexing arrangement also includes a first switch and wiring that forms a series loop connection including the first winding, the second winding, the first switch and the secondary winding of the transformer. The first switch is arranged to selectively open-circuit the series loop connection. Also included in the multiplexing arrangement are a second switch connected across the second winding for selectively short-circuiting the second winding and a third switch connected across the first winding for selectively short-circuiting the first winding. The first, second and third switches may be implemented using MOSFETs that are completely isolated from the transmitter.
