    摘要: The present invention is an improved charging handle for a firearm. The handle is generally non-reciprocating and features a user activated forward assist. The major components are an actuator to provide charging function and upon which other components are mounted, a spring biased lever with a hook which biases downward so that the hook may interface a bolt carrier when the lever is activated, and a blade upon which handle structure is mounted. In the preferred embodiment, the handle is ambidextrous and features a spring detent to keep it in stowed position until the user desires use. The handle will only reciprocate when the lever is activated, which in turn requires intentional user action, thereby providing a relatively safer weapon to operate.

The assembly comprises a stock body with a uniform mounting structure and one of a series of adapters made to accept the mounting structure and then mount, in turn, on a given rifle platform. Also disclosed is attachment structure for holding the stock body and adapter together, specifically a pair of plates and a set of bores in the modules through which a pair of bolts pass and other interfacing surface geometry.

The preferred embodiment also features a protective cover that distributes forces from the spring to more structurally sound areas of the magazine, thus reducing feed end splay, and an ammunition indication system comprised of at least one window and a noticeable marker on the follower spring. The follower and magazine casing are also designed to interface to prevent the follower from popping out of the feed end and the floor plate of the magazine utilizes a locking plate and sliding relationship between the floor plate, locking plate and magazine to secure the floor plate onto the magazine casing. The cover features built in tools for, among other things, unloading and disassembling the magazine.
