    摘要: A vacuum system for cleaning the base of a control blade guide tube comprises a vacuum source and a novel vacuum head. The vacuum source includes a conventional vacuum pump and filter, for trapping matter entrained in water driven by the pump. The vacuum head is disk-shaped and has an off-axis vacuum port which can scan the guide tube base when the disk is rotated 360.degree.. Elongated slots in the disk admit water down through the disk. Guide fins separate the slots from the vacuum port. The guide fins are shaped to provide a clearance over the guide tube base, effecting a highventuri action which helps sweep up debris on the guide tube base. An annular ridge on the disk surrounds a similar annular ridge on the base, isolating a control rod drive tube housing below the base from the vacuum. This prevents control rod drive components from being disturbed by the vacuum.

    摘要: An integral stub tube which simplifies the reactor pressure vessel fabrication process, provides a structural transition between the penetration and head, and facilitates future remote inspection of the attachment weld is described. In one embodiment, a stub tube is machined into the bottom head dome. Specifically, a penetration is formed in the bottom head dome by a bore having a stub tube portion. The stub tube portion has a cylindrical shape and a length of the stub tube portion is selected to provide a transition between a penetration housing and an adjacent portion of bottom head dome. The penetration housing extends through the penetration, in the dome. A weld attaches the stub tube portion to the penetration housing.

In one specific embodiment, the shroud attachment assembly includes a shroud flange formed integral with the shroud, and a pump deck flange formed integral with the pump deck. The shroud flange extends over the pump deck flange, and a plurality of studs extend through aligned openings in the flanges. In addition, a plurality of wedges are secured to the shroud flange by studs, and the wedges extend between the shroud flange and the pump deck flange. Generally, the studs which extend through aligned openings in the shroud and pump deck flanges transfer vertical loads from the shroud to the pump deck, and the wedges transfer horizontal loads from the shroud to the pump deck.

    摘要: A modular differential pressure measuring system for a boiling water nuclear reactor pressure vessel is described. The modular pressure differential system includes a plurality of pressure lines having a plurality of pressure line sections. The system also includes a shroud having at least one replaceable shroud section. Each shroud section includes at least one pressure line section which is configured to connect to and disconnect from corresponding pressure line sections in adjacent shroud sections without welding. Additionally, the system includes a reactor bottom head petal section having a shroud support flange and a plurality of bores defining pressure line sections wherein at least one pressure line section of said bottom head petal is configured to couple with a corresponding pressure line section of an adjacent shroud section. The modular pressure system does not require cutting of the pressure lines or pressure line supports for replacement of the replaceable shroud sections. Additionally, the modular differential pressure system does not require welding of pressure lines and/or pressure line supports during installation of a replaceable shroud section.

    摘要: A remotely operated drilling tool is configured to produce holes in a core shroud support plate inside of a nuclear reactor vessel. The tool includes a support base that is securely mounted directly above the location where the hole will be formed. In a first operation, a drilling tool is secured to the support base and drills a hole through about 90% of the shroud support plate. The drilling tool includes chip capturing structure to prevent chip created by the machining process from contaminating the water in the reactor vessel. After about 90% of the hole is drilled with the drilling tool, an EDM tool is secured to the support base to machine the remainder of the hole using an EDM process. The EDM tool includes structure for machining the remainder of the hole, removing the slug from the hole, and performing a spotface on the underside of the shroud support plate. The underwater drilling tool is capable of producing high quality holes faster and more efficiently than the current EDM process, while maintaining control of all foreign material, minimizing the deleterious effects on the material being drilled, and reducing the risk associated with poor tool reliability and breakage.

    摘要: Methods and systems for preparing a substrate implementing a surface tension reducing process are provided. In one example, a substrate preparation system includes a chuck which fingers for edge gripping the substrate. The chuck is hollow to provide simultaneous access to both active and backside surfaces of the substrate, and is configured to rotate the substrate. The system includes dispense arms positioned over the substrate surfaces. The dispense arms are capable of moving between a center region and a periphery of the substrate surfaces, and each dispense arm includes a pair of supply lines for delivering fluids over the substrate surfaces. A connection couples the upper dispense arm with the lower dispense arm so that the dispense arms synchronously move between the center region and the periphery of the substrate, and remain aligned on opposite surfaces of the substrate.
