摘要: An intravascular catheter, such as a balloon catheter, and a method for use thereof, the catheter comprising an elongate shaft having an inflation lumen extending therethrough, an implement, such as a dilation balloon, connected to and located at the distal portion of the shaft and communicating with the lumen, a small profile core wire extending through at least the dilation balloon and having a distal portion that extends distally from the dilation balloon through a distal core wire opening located distally of the balloon, and further in which the core wire is movable relative to the elongate shaft to allow withdrawal of the elongate shaft and the balloon while leaving the core wire positioned intravascularly, and a tip member connected to the core wire in a region thereof distal of the location at which the core wire extends distally of the core wire opening, the tip member having a profile larger than the opening. Also, a manifold is provided adapted to both form a fluid seal around a guide wire received in a port and spatially fix the position of the guide wire in the manifold. Also, the manifold automatically closes a fluid port upon disconnection of a source of fluid from the fluid port.

摘要: An angioplasty and stent delivery system to facilitate introduction and placement of a stent, including a catheter having an expandable distal portion constructed and arranged for expanding the outer diameter of the catheter from a contracted state to an expanded state: a stent positioned around the distal portion of the catheter having a contracted condition and being expandable to an expanded condition, and being sized in the contracted condition to closely surround the catheter in the contracted state, the expandable distal portion of the catheter including a balloon within which or over which there is included on a catheter shaft at least one axially movable or enlargeable body of a diameter larger than the catheter shaft to which the stent and balloon are fitted, as by crimping, for holding the stent in place until it is released therefrom by expansion of the balloon.

摘要: An assembly for delivery and deployment of an inflation expandable stent within a vessel is comprised of a catheter, an inflation expandable stent, an expandable balloon, and a securement means such as a corrugated tube component or an expandable tube component. The tube component is mounted on the inner shaft beneath the balloon and provides increased securement to the stent in a reduced delivery diameter to maintain the stent on the catheter during delivery to the deployment site. The tube component is adhered to the inner shaft and has a plurality of ribs or is fluid expandable to no more than the delivery diameter and may be comprised of more than one separately inflatable pouch expandable to provide the stent with a substrate seat with increased friction and to decrease the slack in stent recoil crimping. The assembly is used in a method for delivering and deploying a stent, and also adds safety when loading/crimping the stent onto a balloon.

摘要: An over-the-wire balloon dilatation catheter of the short guide wire lumen type has a stainless steel hypotube catheter shaft section, a distal plastic shaft section attached to the hypotube and a balloon connected to the distal plastic shaft section. A relatively short guide wire lumen extends throughout the length of the balloon. The distal shaft section includes a reinforcing and kink-resistant transition member extending throughout the length of the distal shaft section. The transition member allows the proximal guide wire lumen aperture to be placed distally from the distal end of the hypotube. This configuration permits the length of the guide wire lumen to be minimized.

摘要: An assembly for delivery and deployment of an inflation expandable stent within a vessel is comprised of a catheter, an inflation expandable stent, an expandable balloon, and a securement device such as a corrugated tube component or an expandable tube component. The tube component is mounted on the inner shaft beneath the balloon and provides increased securement to the stent in a reduced delivery diameter to maintain the stent on the catheter during delivery to the deployment site. The tube component is adhered to the inner shaft and has a plurality of ribs or is fluid expandable to no more than the delivery diameter, and may be comprised of more than one separately inflatable pouch expandable to provide the stent with a substrate seat with increased friction and to decrease the slack in stent recoil crimping. 摘要: A balloon catheter is provided having an expandable distal portion and balloon protector means comprising a first removable sleeve having a variable inner diameter to ease sliding the first sleeve over the balloon, and an optional second removable (outer) sleeve positioned over the inner sleeve, the second (outer) sleeve having a constrictive relationship with the first (inner) sleeve, said first and second sleeves being removed prior to use of the catheter. A stent delivery system is provided to facilitate introduction and placement of a stent, and includes a catheter having an expandable distal portion constructed and arranged for expanding the outer diameter of the catheter from a contracted state to an expanded state, said distal portion further comprising a balloon and at least one dam over which the balloon extends, and a stent positioned around the distal portion of the catheter around the balloon or gripper linear control device, said stent having a contracted condition, being sized in the contracted condition to closely surround the balloon in the contracted state, and being expandable to an expanded condition; a first removable (inner) sleeve in the region of the distal portion of the catheter positioned around the stent (and between the dams where the device comprises two dams), said first sleeve comprising a first end, a second end and a variable inner diameter to ease sliding the sleeve over the balloon and stent; an optional second removable (outer) sleeve positioned over the stent, first sleeve and at least one dam, said second (outer) sleeve having a constrictive relationship with the first (inner) sleeve, whereby when compressed by the outer sleeve, the inner sleeve will have an inner diameter approximately equal to or less than the outer profile of the collapsed balloon over the at least one dam, said first and second sleeves being removed prior to use of the stent delivery system and release of the stent by expansion of the balloon.
