Abstract: An optical switch includes a bus waveguide and an optical antenna supported by a substrate, a first and second coupling waveguide, a first and second actuation electrode, and a first and second reaction electrode. The first coupling waveguide is disposed parallel with the substrate and aligned with the bus waveguide. The first reaction electrode is coupled with, and adjacent to, the first coupling waveguide. The second coupling waveguide is optically connected with the first coupling waveguide and suspended over and configured to optically couple with the optical antenna. The second reaction electrode is coupled with, and adjacent to, the second coupling waveguide. The first and second actuation electrodes are supported by the substrate and configured to control the position of the first and second coupling waveguide, respectively, relative to the bus waveguide and optical antenna, via the first and second reaction electrodes.

Abstract: A method and a laser assemblage are described for material processing, such that in a laser assemblage, a laser beam is focused onto a processing/imaging plane and the laser beam can be adapted in terms of its intensity distribution by way of at least one beam shaper. Provision is made in this context that in order to avoid uniformity defects in the processing/imaging plane, the laser beam is split by way of at least one beam splitter into at least two partial or individual beams, and the partial or individual beams are differently influenced, or each partial or individual beam is constituted from a laser source having a different wavelength, in such a way that after they are combined and focused onto the processing/imaging plane they form an output beam having an intensity profile, adjacent intensity maxima of the intensity profile differing in terms of their light properties. It is thereby possible to prevent the occurrence of obtrusive interference so that obtrusive speckle patterns are largely eliminated, with the result that beam shaping quality, in particular for laser processing processes, can be considerably improved.

Abstract: A method for calibrating a projection device for a head-mounted display includes scanning a light beam emitted by a light source over a scanning angle range by means of a reflection element such that the light beam deflected by the reflection element passes over a head-mounted display surface region of a deflection element arranged on a lens of the head-mounted display. The surface region has at least two adjustment markings arranged on the head-mounted display, each adjustment marking arranged at a specified position relative to the surface of the deflection element arranged on a lens of the head-mounted display. The method further includes determining in which scan setting of the reflection element the at least two adjustment markings are struck by the light beam.
