摘要: A push-to-open magnetic catch for cabinet doors and the like has a housing and within the housing is a rectangular magnet mounted at one end of a pivotal lever. The housing is ordinarily so positioned within the cabinet that the forward edge of the magnet projects forwardly of the cabinet to receive and make magnetic contact with the closing door or with an armature plate mounted thereon. In normal closed position, an overtravel space exists between the inner surface of the door or armature plate and the cabinet. The lever has a forward edge so contoured that when, to open, the closed door is pushed inwardly into the overtravel space, the lever is cammed pivotally inwardly, thereby pulling the magnet inwardly along a line or path guided by the housing. This separates the magnet from the door, and allows the force of a spring-loaded plunger, which has been pushing outwardly against the door, to push the door outwardly when the inward force is removed. When the plunger thus moves outwardly, it contacts the rearward edge of the lever and pushes it forwardly, to a limit position, thereby returning the magnet to its original position. A frictional detent arrangement, keeps the magnet in its proper position while the door is being moved toward, or away from, the magnet.

摘要: A latching mechanism is provided for latching a door to a fixed frame member. A keeper is secured to the frame member. A support structure is secured to the door for pivotally mounting a pawl and a pawl-actuating lever for pivotal movement about first and second fixed axes, respectively. The pawl and lever are interconnected by a link bar, secured by first and second pivot pins, respectively. When the lever is in a latched position, forces applied to the door in a door-opening direction impose a compressional load on the interconnecting link bar. When the lever is moved between latched and unlatched positions, an extension of the line drawn between the first and second pivot pins of the link bar will pass across the fixed axis about which the lever is pivotal. Thus, the link bar functions as a over-center toggle element which is placed under a compressional load when forces are applied to the door in a door-opening direction. The lever functions as a first class lever in which the lever fulcrum is located between the link pivot pin which couples the link bar to the lever and the manually operated end of the lever.

The indicator uses stored spring forces, stored in a thin, twin-leafed flat spring having a plurality of spring bends therein, to react against a latch keeper attached to the cabinet frame. The stored spring forces cause a spring tab to dislodge the latch pawl from an adjacent flat surface and move the latch housing and cabinet door away from the frame.

摘要: A rotary operated latch of the "lift and turn" fastener type is disclosed having a cam action in the handle such that when the handle is moved to a latched position, it provides a pull on the pawl to compress a door or panel against a door or panel frame, or its gasket, to provide a tight seal. An over-center action prevents accidental release. A slot and pin arrangement prevents moving the handle to a latched position, except when the pin and slot are aligned. While the pawl and handle are normally rotatable relative to a sleeve in the door or panel which carries the mechanism, the pin and slot are so located as to be incapable of sufficient axial relative movement to move the handle into a latched position, except when the pawl is rotatably positioned for movement into a latched position.
