    摘要: The phase of a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) can be controlled and changed by a series of pulses applied through an isolating element such as a capacitor. A small amount of current injected into the reactive element distorts the waveform of the VCO during the period of injection. Depending on the power of the pulse of injected current, a corresponding phase shift in the output of the VCO will result during the period of injection. The pulses are applied at a frequency equivalent to the desired frequency. Assuming the waveform of the VCO to be sinusoidal or otherwise symmetrical, the injected current pulses result in one point on the waveform where the distortion will be symmetrical and stable. The injection of repeated pulses results in this stable point eventually occurring symmetrically about the peak of the VCO waveform thereby locking the phase of the VCO to correspond to the frequency of the injected pulses.

    摘要: A control point driver circuit for use in a telephone exchange for energizing and deenergizing a control element such as a control relay in response to set and reset input pulses. The control point driver circuit comprises a transformer having a centertapped primary forming set, reset, and common inputs for receiving the set and reset input pulses and a secondary coupled to a constant control voltage. The control point driver circuit also includes a comparator having a first input coupled to the transformer secondary, an output coupled to the control relay to be energized and de-energized and a second input coupled to the comparator output for receiving first and second reference voltages which are related in magnitude to the constant control voltage to maintain the comparator in the set state or reset state indefinitely until a reset or set input pulse is received. A received input pulse causes an induced voltage within the transformer secondary which augments the control voltage to change the relation in magnitude between the reference voltages and the control voltage to cause the comparator to change states in response to the received set and reset input pulses. When the comparator is in the set state, the control relay is energized and when the comparator is in the reset state, the control relay is de-energized.

    摘要: A fastening arrangement for attaching a handgrip knob assembly to a vehicle gearshift lever rod. The knob has a through cavity comprising an upper cavity portion, an intermediate cavity portion supporting a metal insert, and a lower upwardly tapered cavity portion. The insert upper surface defining a bottom wall clamping surface of the upper cavity portion bottom wall. An internally threaded insert through bore is divided from a lower counterbored portion by an internal stop shoulder. The shift lever rod has an upper threaded stem connected by a cylindrical shank portion to an upwardly tapered rod section while the stem portion terminates in a frustoconical pilot end. A rod external stop shoulder divides the stem and shank sections. A spring steel drive washer, having a central aperture intermeshed with an upper crown portion of a locknut, is initially press-fitted in the upper cavity until its outer edge frictionally engages a serrated portion of the upper cavity. Assembly begins with the installer releasing the knob assembly above the rod stem such that the knob's lead-in cavity slidably receives the rod stem in a gravity induced torque ready manner. Initial torquing of the locknut results in self-threading of the stem through the insert and into the locknut bore causing the stop shoulders to clamp in a first anti-rotational lock. Continued torquing releases the frictionally retained drive washer from the serrated portion thereby clamping the locknut undersurface against the cavity bottom wall providing a second anti-rotational lock.

    摘要: An optical smoke detector for detecting particulates in an air sample. The detector includes a detection chamber defining an enclosure for the air sample. At least one opening is in fluid communication with the detection chamber whereby the air sample can be introduced and discharged from the detection chamber. A cleaning port defines a passageway to the detection chamber from a position external to the smoke detector and a resilient valve seals the cleaning port with a substantially air-tight seal. The valve member is accessible from a position external to the smoke detector. The valve member is openable, permitting passage of air through the cleaning port into the discharge chamber, by engaging the valve member with a nozzle, such as an air nozzle mounted on a canister of pressurized air.

    摘要: A directional coupler for a modem has a high common mode noise rejection characteristic with low transmit signal leakage, and reduced distortion of components mixed with a received signal. A primary filter network is connected to a communications circuit. The primary filter network has an output connected to an input of an amplifier. A feedback network is connected between the input and output of the amplifier. The primary filter network, the amplifier and the feedback network are arranged to provide a virtual ground at the input of the amplifier, and a filter characteristic which attenuates frequencies in the transmit signal band. The advantage is reduced component count while providing excellent transmit signal rejection and reducing received signal distortion.
