Abstract:
The turbomachine has a ring of radial blades which are connected to an annular end wall. Situated on the end wall upstream of each blade is a deflector wedge with two divergent guide surfaces. The deflector wedge generates pressure-side and suction-side vortices of which the vortices caused by the blade cascade are altered such that the transverse flow and backflow areas on the blade are reduced, and therefore the edge zone losses are decreased.
Abstract:
A filtration system comprising a filter cassette having integrated ultrasonic transducers incorporated therein, and a method for using the same. The integrated system of filters and transducers can be hardened for use in hazardous environments, and is particularly suitable for the implementation of sonication in cross flow filtration processes further integrated with a manufacturing process. The system provides cost savings both in terms of less equipment and space for cleaning processes on the manufacturing floor.
Abstract:
An assembly for a hydraulically actuated automatic transmission comprising a balance dam, a carrier partially enclosing the balance dam, and a pinion shaft secured to the carrier having a fluid passage interconnecting the balance dam and an outer surface of the pinion shaft. Fluid exiting the passage is used to lubricate a bearing supported on the pinion shaft.
Abstract:
A dough product made by a process whereby a dough having an engagement surface and a leading feature is positioned onto the conveyor, transferred towards a process direction by a driving engagement and impacted to create a region of low pressure.
Abstract:
A vacuum-strength measurement device is utilized to determine vacuum producer system performance specifications and system parameters. A flow ability factor can be determined that represents the effect of system piping and usage area equipment on performance. With the flow ability factor, a vacuum strength requirement can be determined to effect a target vacuum performance. For system design, design parameters can be established based on a relationship between a desired flow ability factor and an amount of vacuum strength required to match target vacuum performance.
Abstract:
A cooking oven comprises a cavity having a separating and insulating plate which can be inserted horizontally in the cavity in order to split it in two sub-cavities. Each sub-cavity has heating elements on its side walls. The oven sub-cavities can be singularly or separately and this increases flexibility in use.
Abstract:
A process for the production of microtip electron sources and the products produced thereby. The process includes a first cleaning stage with a first wet chemical cleaning substage and/or a second plasma cleaning substage and a finishing stage using surface etching. A second cleaning stage using a wet chemical cleaning can also be used. The process uses a system of cathode conductors, grids superimposed an intermediate insulator and microtips deposited on the cathode conductors.
Abstract:
A parallel decoder for an MPEG-2 encoded video signal includes a deformatter which separates the input bit stream into multiple portions, each representing a respectively different section of the HDTV image. The separate portions are processed in parallel by respective decoders. In order to perform motion compensated processing, each of the four decoders includes a memory that holds data representing the entire image. Each decoder provides its decoded output data to all of the decoders to maintain the data in the respective memories.
