    摘要: A remote transmitting or receiving device (T/R device) communicates with a conventional subscriber telephone through available AC power wires which carry signals that may be modulations of RF carrier frequencies and which are coupled to the power wires. For example, an incoming telephone call includes signals that are detected and modulate a master RF carrier frequency which is coupled to the AC power wires at the telephone line location and these signals are coupled from the AC power wires at a remote R device location, and, demodulated and used to control an electrical appliance, motor, pump, etc. The remote T device which may be, for example, a fire detector produces signals which modulate a remote RF carrier frequency which is coupled to the AC power wires at the remote location and this modulated carrier is coupled from the AC power wires and demodulated at the telephone line location to control or initiate signals in suitable form for transmission over the telephone line. Thus, telephone calls to the subscriber's telephone line can be received at the remote location to turn on an electrical device at that location; or signals originating at the remote location initiate a telephone call and message from the transcriber's telephone line.

    摘要: An extension telephone system communicates with a conventional subscriber telephone line where the subscriber's line telephone is located, through available AC power wires which carry signals that may be modulations of RF carrier frequencies and which are coupled to the power wires. Incoming telephone line signals are detected and modulate a first RF carrier frequency which is coupled to the AC power wires at the line telephone location and these signals are coupled from the AC power wires at an extension telephone location, and, demodulated and fed to an extension telephone which is energized by DC power derived from the AC power wires at the extension location. The extension telephone produces extension telephone signals which modulate a second RF carrier frequency which is coupled to the AC power wires at the extension location and this modulated carrier is coupled from the AC power wires and demodulated at the line telephone to produce the extension telephone signals in suitable form for applying to the telephone line. Thus, telephone calls to the subscriber's line telephone can be received by the extension telephone and calls to the telephone extension telephones can be connected to this system wherever there is access to the same AC power wires.

    摘要: Synthetic aperture radar data is used in conjunction with altimeter data to produce a terrain map corrected for platform roll angle. The technique uses two synthetic radar antennas and a ranging altimeter placed on an aircraft. The aircraft is moved in a set of substantially parallel flight paths where each flight is directly over the strip of terrain viewed by the synthetic aperture radar of an adjacent flight. During each flight the at least one antenna repeatedly transmits radar signals whose return echoes are received by both the first and second antennas. Conventional synthetic aperture radar processing yields a terrain map uncorrected for roll angle. Altimeter data from an adjacent flight determines the first order corrected aircraft roll angle when the corresponding synthetic radar data was taken. This roll angle is used to correct the height and ground range of nearby points in the uncorrected terrain map. A second order corrected roll angle is determined using the first order corrected terrain map to identify the first return point of the altimeter measurements. The measured altitude is then realigned to the first return point to produce a second order corrected roll angle and a corresponding second order corrected terrain map. The result is a terrain map corrected for aircraft roll angle.

    摘要: A lamp assembly having a gravity-actuated switch which is adapted to be mounted to the underside of a hinged cover member of a vehicle to illuminate a compartment of the vehicle when the hinged member is opened to a predetermined extent. The lamp assembly has a housing, a lamp disposed in the housing, first conductor means for electrically interconnecting a first electrical terminal with one terminal of the lamp, second conductor means for electrically interconnecting a second electrical terminal with a first contact point, and third conductor means for electrically interconnecting the other terminal of the lamp with a second contact point. The assembly has a switch for automatically turning on the lamp when the housing is moved to a first angular orientation and turning off the lamp when the housing is moved to a second angular orientation. The switch has a slidable member with a conductive portion, the slidable member being movable between a first position in which the conductive portion of the slidable member electrically interconnects the first and second contact points and a second position in which the first and second contact points are electrically isolated. The assembly may have an inverted pivot member, movable under the influence of gravity, for causing the slidable member to occupy the first position when the housing is in the first angular orientation and for causing the slidable member to occupy the second position when the housing is in the second angular orientation.
