    摘要: Systems and apparatuses include an electronically scanned array system including a power supply system, a radiating element subarray, a plurality of beamformer chips, and a plurality of control buses. The radiating element subarray includes active radiating elements, and between about one percent and about twenty percent reserve radiating elements distributed throughout the active radiating elements. Each control bus includes a plurality of primary control paths providing communication from the control bus to the beamformer chips, and a reserve control paths structured to be remapped to provide communication from the control bus to the beam former chips in the event that one of the plurality of primary control paths fails.

    摘要: Methods and Systems for testing phased antenna arrays include positioning a phased antenna array and a probe antenna at relative positions with respect to each other where one of them can operate as the transmitter and the other as the receiver. The transmitter can radiate a plurality of electromagnetic waves sequentially while the phased antenna array is steered or configured differently for each radiated electromagnetic. The receiver can receive, responsive to each radiated electromagnetic wave, a corresponding receive radio frequency (RF) signal. A processor can determine one or more performance parameters of the phased antenna array using the receive RF signals.

    摘要: Systems and methods disclose a satellite communication system including a plurality of antenna elements, an interface circuit, and a transceiver circuit. Each antenna element communicates a first polarization signal and a second polarization signal. The interface circuit receives, amplifies, and splits the first polarization signals into a first polarization primary signal and a first polarization secondary signal. The interface circuit also receives, amplifies, and splits the second polarization signals into a second polarization primary signal and a second polarization secondary signal. A first summer circuit generates a first beam signal via a sum of the first and second polarization primary signals. A second summer circuit generates a second beam signal via a sum of the first and second polarization secondary signals. The transceiver includes a first splitter circuit that receives and splits the first beam signal into a first signal and a second signal, a second splitter circuit that receives and splits the second beam signal into a third signal and a fourth signal, a first beamformer that synthesizes a first beamformed signal, and a second beamformer that synthesizes a second beamformed signal.

    摘要: An electronically scanned array (ESA) is configured for a high-degree of isolation between adjacent radiating elements and between co-located ports. Radiating elements of the ESA include a centrally located slot-aperture configured as a radiating source, and multiple via-apertures positioned around and between each port of the co-located ports. An amount of metamaterial structures found in a unit cell of an antenna layer ascendingly increases from a bottom antenna layer to a top antenna layer, with groups of metamaterial structures differing in orientation with respect to unit cells of two or more antenna layers and with respect to two groups found within a unit cell of the top antenna layer.

In embodiments, the AESA antenna device includes a beam forming network including a plurality of analog beamformer (ABF) integrated circuit devices. The beam forming network may be configured to: receive a first set of signals and a second set of signals with multiple ABF integrated circuit devices, and combine the first set of signals and the second set of signals to generate a first receive input beam and a second receive input beam. In embodiments, the AESA antenna device further includes a carrier substrate communicatively coupled to the beam forming network. The carrier substrate may be configured to receive the first receive output beam with a first electrical line and the second receive output beam with a second electrical line, and route the first electrical line and the second electrical line within a first manifold layer of the carrier substrate.

The method can include determining that a power level or gain of the antenna array in a direction pointing to a second communication device exceeds a predefined threshold value, using the radiation pattern of the antenna array and a position of the second communication device. The method can include identifying one or more antenna elements among a plurality of antenna elements of the antenna array to be powered off or applying non-uniform weighting to the antenna elements to distort the radiation pattern of the antenna array in a way to reduce the power level or gain of the antenna array in the direction pointing to the second communication device.

    摘要: Systems and methods of controlling signal polarization are provided herein. An antenna array may include antenna elements each communicatively connected to a variable gain amplifier (VGA) with discrete amplitude control, and a phase shifter with discrete phase control, to provide discrete polarization states. A polarization controller may identify a target polarization state with a target amplitude and a target polarization angle. The polarization controller may identify a first polarization state and a second polarization state from the discrete polarization states, that are nearest in absolute amplitude to the target amplitude and nearest in polarization angle to the target polarization angle. The polarization controller may concurrently form a signal with the identified first polarization state using a first portion antenna elements, and a signal with the identified second polarization state using a second portion of antenna elements.
