    摘要: A suspension is provided, which has proximal and distal ends and a longitudinal axis extending from the proximal end toward the distal end. A rotating hinge rotates the distal end about the longitudinal axis in response to vertical motion of the distal end relative to the proximal end. In one example, the suspension includes a preformed twist deformation, which rotates the distal end about the longitudinal axis relative to the proximal end axis in a direction opposite to rotation by the rotating hinge, in response to the vertical motion.

    摘要: A suspension is provided, which has a base, a load beam and a hinge structure. The hinge structure and at least one of the base and the load beam are formed of a single continuous piece of multiple layer laminate material, which includes first and second layers. The hinge structure includes a first beam formed by the first layer and a second beam formed by the second layer. The first layer is absent along the second beam and the second layer is absent along the first beam such that the first and second beams are vertically offset from one another. The first and second beams extend between the base and the load beam.

    摘要: A gimbal and corresponding head suspension assembly including a planar flexure platform having integral static attitude compensation, nominal angle adjustment, and load point etched or etched-formed raised features. The head suspension assembly can also include a load point cover with etched or etched-formed load point features. The etched features are manufactured by masking a pivot point at about the intersection of the roll axis and the pitch axis, thus leaving a raised protuberance having either a pivot point or a load point feature. The process of manufacturing etched-formed features includes etching protuberances and slots. A punch press is then applied to the protuberances. The slots help control the formation of raised domes and provide additional static compensation and nominal angle adjustment pivoting clearance.

    摘要: A head suspension assembly in a rigid disk drive having a load beam with a mounting region, a rigid region and a spring region located between the mounting region and rigid region. The mounting region includes an integral boss tower having attachment features. A method of making a multi-piece head suspension for a rigid disk drive is also disclosed. The method includes providing a first layer including a mounting region with an integral boss tower attached to a stiffener by one or more positioning tabs; attaching a second layer including a spring region to an interface between the mounting region and the stiffener; attaching a flexure to the stiffener; and removing the positioning tabs. The flexure can optionally be a portion of the second layer.
