摘要: A method of interchangeably using memory devices constructed from different memory technologies, and/or having different storage capacities, in a predetermined socket of an electrical circuit. The method includes the steps of determining which technology types of memory devices, and storage capacities thereof, are to be interchangeably inserted in the predetermined socket, determining which pin positions of the determined memory devices have like functions, and determining which pin positions have different functions. The method further includes the steps of connecting the socket in the electric circuit such that a predetermined placement position of each determined memory device in the socket will serve the pin positions determined to have like functions. The method includes the steps of providing a jumper block having a predetermined number of connectable input/output terminal pairs, and connecting the jumper block in the electric circuit such that the determined unlike functions are connected to predetermined different input terminals of the jumper block, and predetermined output terminals of the jumper block are connected to predetermined pin positions of the socket. A memory device is selected from the determined memory devices and it is inserted in a predetermined position in the socket. The method then includes the step of determining which input/output terminal pairs of the jumper block should be interconnected for the inserted memory device, and the step of interconnecting the determined pairs of input/output terminals.

摘要: A method of securely controlling direct memory access (DMA) in a microprocessor controlled system having a CPU on a CPU board which has an address/data bus connector for selectively connecting an expansion board to the CPU board, and a random access memory (RAM) on the CPU board having a specific address range which is accessible by a DMA device on the expansion board when the CPU board relinquishes control of the address/data bus to the DMA device in response to a bus access request. The method includes the steps of providing a plurality of logic signals, including a first logic signal having logic levels which indicate whether or not the CPU board is in control of the address/data bus, providing memory select signals for selecting different memory address ranges which are true in response to different Boolean equations each comprising predetermined combinations of predetermined logic signals, and including the first signal in the Boolean equation of at least one of the memory select signals, such that the at least one memory select signal can only be driven to a true level when the logic level of the first logic signal indicates that the CPU board is in control of the address/data bus. The method may be used to control DMA in a refrigeration related process or system.

摘要: A method of communication in a refrigeration system, between communication nodes connected to a serial data bus using Controller Area Network protocol (CAN) having a message frame format which includes a data field. The method includes converting a byte of the data field of each message frame to a permanent data descriptor expansion byte (DEB). In at least the first frame of a message a specific bit of the DEB is set to a first logic level to indicate a control frame, and information descriptive of the whole message is loaded into the remaining bits of the DEB, and data field. In each remaining frame of a message following a control frame, or control frames, the specific bit is set to a second logic level, to indicate a data frame. A block of data is loaded into the data field of each data frame, and index information specific to the associated block of data is loaded into the remaining bits of the DEB.

摘要: A power line carrier communication system for monitoring refrigerated containers which includes a master monitoring unit and a first power line interface which interchange messages in a first format. The first power line interface translates the first format to a second format suitable for power line environment, and messages in the second format are applied to a power line. Remote monitoring units receive the messages from the power line, and they return messages to the power line containing status data relative to refrigerated containers. The second format includes a message starting preamble having a duration and logic level which is not duplicated by normal operation of the apparatus, enhancing the probability of proper message synchronization and reception over noisy power line environments.
