There is described a spin stabilized projectile assembly including a projectile, a sabot, and a guide ring. The projectile is provided with a shoulder at the rear end of which abuts the sabot, the projectile and sabot being connected by the guide ring which extends around the projectile and part of the sabot. The guide ring is arranged so that after the projectile assembly has been fired and has left the barrel of the weapon the sabot and the projectile separate. The sabot has a diameter substantially equal to that of the projectile; the guide ring is secured to the sabot against relative movement in a longitudinal direction but is rotatable with respect to the sabot.

This guide beam (14) is then decoded in a receiving apparatus (8) of the flying body by means of a further holographic element (11) that is rigidly connected to the flying body (2). The further holographic element (11) is configured such that maximum brightness or intensity only occurs at the receiving detector (13) if it is located parallel to the holographic element (11) on the side of the laser (3), i.e., non-mirror-symmetric information must be impressed upon the guide beam (4).

A munitions round for a subcaliber projectile to be fired from a barrel-type weapon has a casing receiving the projectile which is at least partially surrounded by the gas-generating propellant charge. A drive body is mounted at the forward end of the projectile and has a rearward pressure-receiving surface which droops inwardly toward the projectile from an outer edge of the body which is engaged by the casing. The body is formed from a plurality of segments which form-fittingly hug the projectile and have confronting angularly spaced separating surfaces bridged by a sealing member. The forward end of the body, formed by the segments, is concave forwardly and has a leading edge which is disposed outwardly and axially ahead of the rearward inner edge of this surface which forms a pocket engaging the air upon propulsion of the projectile from the barrel to effect separation of the segments and dislodgment of the body.
