Abstract: A wireless communication system includes a first access point managing a first wireless local area network and at least one second access point managing at least one respective wireless local area network. A CSMA/CA procedure is employed. The first access point is involved in a real-time sensitive transmission. Each access point implements an energy detection mechanism and a preamble detection mechanism in the context of the CSMA/CA procedure. The energy detection mechanism is implemented for accessing the primary channel and for accessing each secondary channel. The preamble detection mechanism is implemented for accessing the primary channel and optionally for accessing each secondary channel. A decision making unit instructs the first access point and each second access point to use the same primary communication channel. This improves the conditions under which the real-time sensitive transmission takes place.

Abstract: An item of ONU equipment configures itself to communicate by a first transport system with OLT equipment in an optical access network, and starts a synchronisation for the first transport system and transmits by means of the first transport system. The ONU equipment transmits, via a protocol layer supervising any transport system of the optical access network, without waiting for the end of the synchronisation for the first transport system, information dependent on identifiers of the user equipment and the first transport system. When the transport system to be used is not the first transport system, the protocol layer supervising any transport system of the optical access network interrupts the synchronisation at the OLT equipment, and the ONU equipment reattempts the synchronisation with a second transport system; otherwise the synchronisation continues for the first transport system until the ONU equipment is put in communication in the optical access network.

Abstract: Some appliances, normally supplied by a mains supply, comprise an emergency supply by batteries able to take over from the mains supply. The batteries used by the emergency supply are generally protected by a fuse. These appliances may consume energy greater than what could be supplied by the batteries of the emergency supply. When there is a break in the mains electrical supply, it's preferable to limit the current consumed by the appliance to not damage the fuse protecting said batteries. However, the fuses are hardware modules having a reaction time of a few hundreds of milliseconds. If one does not want to damage the fuse, one could reduce the current consumption of the appliance within a time less than the reaction time of the fuse. A system and method herein instantaneously reduces the electrical consumption of an appliance in the event of a break in the mains supply.

Abstract: A method and a device is provided for managing an operating fault in a laser diode of an optical interface of user equipment of the ONU type. The user equipment is connected by an optical access network of the passive optical network PON type to line termination equipment of the OLT type. The user equipment is enabled to send an optical signal during a time slot allocated to the user equipment in accordance with a time-division multiple access principle. The laser diode is checked as to whether it is transmitting an optical signal outside the allocated time slot and, if so, a message to the line termination equipment is transferred if the fault is detected, deactivation of the laser diode is demanded, and one or more procedures for attempting to correct the fault are implemented.
