Abstract: A control system for a walking beam furnace including a charging mechanism, which system includes settable walking beam and charging control means, and comparator means for comparing the charge space available in the furnace with the size and spacing of the work pieces to be charged and for regulating the distance of movement of the charging mechanism in accordance with the available charge space.
