Abstract: Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method and apparatus for determining a chat mode based on real-time viewing video information output from a display device, and providing a customized chat room user interface based on the determined chat mode. Abstract: Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method and device for providing a chatbot participating chat service to a chat room corresponding to a real-time broadcast channel on a display device and providing a chatbot participating chat service based on a user chat history, a chatbot chat history, or real-time broadcast channel content in the number of chatbots determined based on a user input or the type of the real-time broadcast channel. To that end, a method may include: receiving a real-time broadcast channel, obtaining an input including at least one of a chatbot chat mode and a number of chatbots in a chat room corresponding to the real-time broadcast channel, and determining the number of chatbots in the chat room corresponding to the real-time broadcast channel based on the input.
