Abstract: A device and method for controlling sound output. The device includes a sound outputter configured to output sound of content; a display configured to display a plurality of windows; and a controller configured to, in response to receiving a user input signal indicating a selection of one of the plurality of windows, output sound of content being reproduced in the selected window through the sound outputter and discontinue outputting sound of content being reproduced in the plurality of windows, except for the selected window.
