Abstract: Disclosed is a transmitter. The present transmitter comprises: a frame generation unit for generating a frame including a plurality of subframes, each of which includes data and a pilot; and a transmission unit for transmitting a frame to a receiver, wherein, when the plurality of subframes have the same FFT size, the frame generation unit determines an arrangement order of the plurality of subframes on the basis of the number of subcarriers used for transmission of the data and the pilot, and arranges the plurality of subframes according to the determined arrangement order.

Abstract: A receiving apparatus includes: a first decoder configured to decode a signal transmitted through a first layer from a layered division multiplexing (LDM) signal using a parity check matrix to generate low density parity check (LDPC) information word bits and parity bits; an encoder configured to encode the LDPC information word bits, generated by decoding the signal transmitted through the first layer, using the parity check matrix to generate parity bits corresponding only to preset columns in the parity check matrix; and a second decoder configured to decode a signal obtained by removing, from the LDM signal, a signal corresponding to the LDPC information word bits generated by decoding the signal transmitted through the first layer, the parity bits generated by the encoder, and the parity bits generated by the first decoder except the parity bits generated by the encoder, thereby to generate information word bits transmitted through a second layer.

The first information includes information required for decoding a first sub frame among the plurality of sub frames. Therefore, a processing delay in a receiving apparatus is reduced.

Abstract: A channel decoding method is provided. The method includes storing, in a memory, a set of first log likelihood ratio (LLR) values corresponding to bits of a codeword generated by modulation of a channel-encoded signal; changing, into a preset value, at least one LLR value corresponding to previously defined bits of the codeword from among the set of the first LLR values, to generate a set of second LLR values; and performing forward error correction (FEC) based on the set of the second LLR values and an FEC code, to estimate the bits of the codeword, in which the FEC code comprises a constraint code for constricting a previously defined structural correlation between the bits of the codeword.
