Abstract: A method of coring to preserve subterranean soluble salt cements gives careful consideration to the selection and use of drilling fluids, specific logging of the zone of interest, displacing the near wellbore with an agent that when cured has either bound all subterranean water or cemented up all the available pore space, coring of the target formation zone containing the cured agent and retrieval of pressurized core material that allows CT scanning.

Abstract: A method of determining a validated vug interpretation log for performing a reservoir fluid flow simulation is disclosed. The method including obtaining a set of well logs from a wellbore, where at least one of the set of well logs may be used as a validating resistivity log, producing an initial vug interpretation log based on at least one of the well logs, and determining a scaled resistivity log from the validating resistivity log The method further includes determining a validated vug interpretation log based, at least in part, on the scaled resistivity log and the initial vug interpretation log; and performing a reservoir fluid flow simulation based, at least in part, on the validated vug interpretation log.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of taking a core sample of a formation. The method includes reducing a viscosity of a water binding starting material in a pumping form. The water binding starting material includes at least one polymer, at least one cross linker capable of curing the at least one polymer and a retarder capable of delaying cross linking of the at least one polymer. At least one additive is added to the water binding starting material to reduce the viscosity of the water binding starting material to less than 2 times of a viscosity of water at a selected temperature. The method further includes pumping the water binding starting material into a borehole in a formation, allowing the water binding starting material to cure in the formation, and taking the core sample from the formation containing the cured water binding starting material.

Abstract: A method includes pumping an agent in a well across a target formation zone with rocks containing soluble salt cement. The agent is injected into pore space within the target formation zone extending a radial distance from the well using pressure, and the agent is allowed to cure in the pore space. The method further includes taking a core of the target formation zone containing the cured agent.
