Abstract: A computer-implemented method, medium, and system for converting borehole images into three dimensional structures for numerical modeling and simulation applications are disclosed. In one computer-implemented method, multiple CT-scan images of a core sample of a rock are received, where the core sample includes a borehole, and the multiple CT-scan images are cross-section images of the core sample at multiple depths of the borehole. A triangulation process is performed on pixels of each CT-scan image and with respect to each of multiple circumferential position angles. Multiple radii of the borehole corresponding to the multiple circumferential position angles are determined for each CT-scan image. Multiple nodal coordinates of 3D numerical model mesh of the borehole are generated based on the multiple radii of the borehole. An advisory on drilling window limits of mud weight is provided based on the multiple nodal coordinates of the 3D numerical model mesh of the borehole.

Abstract: A method for a well includes obtaining a dynamic input parameter combination for the well, determining measurements for a rotating control device using a sensor, and predicting a rotating control device wear estimate using rotating control device estimation methods, the measurements, and the dynamic input parameter combination. The method for a well further includes maximizing an instantaneous rate of penetration, while reducing rotating control device failure, to determine an optimized average rate of penetration using the rotating control device wear estimate. Finally, the optimized average rate of penetration is executed for a well.

Abstract: A method for optimizing drilling performance is disclosed. The method includes determining, while advancing a drill bit during a drilling operation based on drilling parameters specified by a user, a rate of penetration (ROP), acquiring, using sensors disposed on drilling equipment of a well, measurement data of each drilling equipment that represents a condition of a corresponding drilling equipment at a particular ROP during the drilling operation, determining, using an artificial intelligence method based on the measurement data, a non-linear relationship between the ROP, the drilling parameters, and the conditions of the drilling equipment, identifying a constraint specified by the user based on the conditions of the drilling equipment, determining, based on the non-linear relationship and the user specified constraint, a target value of the drilling parameters to optimize a pre-determined performance measure of the drilling operation, and further performing the drilling operation based on the target value.

Abstract: A method includes running a eutectic alloy system downhole in a wellbore including a first casing string and a second casing string therein, activating a differential valve tool within the second casing to generate a primary annular seal within a casing-casing annulus defined between the first casing string and second casing string, pumping a flushing fluid into the casing-casing annulus above the primary annular seal via a first ported collar, melting a eutectic alloy blanket into a molten alloy within the flushing fluid in the casing-casing annulus via a heater, solidifying the molten alloy to establish a supplemental seal above the primary annular seal in the casing-casing annulus between the first casing string and second casing string, and pumping cement into the casing-casing annulus above the supplemental seal to form a cement column in the casing-casing annulus via a second ported collar.
