Abstract: A method for controlling a display device displaying a horizontally oriented image or a vertically oriented image includes: determining whether the display device is in a state of displaying the horizontally oriented image or in a state of displaying the vertically oriented image; transmitting first resolution information representing a first resolution to a terminal device when it is determined that the display device is in the state of displaying the horizontally oriented image, and transmitting second resolution information representing a second resolution higher than the first resolution to the terminal device when it is determined that the display device is in the state of displaying the vertically oriented image; receiving image information with a resolution based on the first resolution information or the second resolution information from the terminal device; and displaying the image based on the image information.

Abstract: A display system displays images projected by a plurality of projection type display devices so as to overlap each other. When a user uses this system, events occurring in these devices can be reliably delivered to the user. A commander and a slave project and display images so as to overlap each other. When a notification-required event occurs in the commander or the slave, the commander specifies this notification-required event. Then, the commander displays a first OSD image between the first OSD image and a second OSD image, which form an image corresponding to the specified notification-required event, in a predetermined region of a first screen of screens on which images are displayed. Also, the commander outputs to the slave a control signal to display the second OSD image in the predetermined region. The slave displays the second OSD image in the predetermined region when the control signal is received.

Abstract: In the case where a projector is used in combination with another projector, individual use of only one projector is enabled. A slave projector operates together with a master projector. In this case, the operation methods to start up the projector are a first method in which only a first key is pressed, a second method in which the first key and a second key are pressed simultaneously, and a third method in which the first key and a third key are pressed simultaneously. When the slave projector detects a user's operation with a remote controller, if the operation is done by the first method or the second method, the slave projector ignores this operation. Meanwhile, if the operation is done by the second method, the slave projector starts up the own device irrespective of the command from the master.
