Abstract: A method of preparing a fine oil-in-water emulsion comprising an oil phase based on silicone and/or hydrocarbon oils, in which the oil phase particles have an average particle size of 150 nm or less. The emulsion is stabilized by a carboxy-modified silicone in combination with a C16 to 22 higher alcohol; a nonionic surfactant having a POE chain and an HLB of 5 to 10; and a dihydric glycol. The emulsions can be prepared without the use of a high-pressure emulsifying apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention provides an α-gel forming composition and an α-gel composition that uses an α-gel formation composition that is highly stable and that does not become colored or deposit crystals, etc. over time. An α-gel composition includes (A) 25-50 mass % of one or more higher aliphatic alcohol and/or higher fatty acid has 16 or more carbons, (B) 40-70 mass % of a specific polyoxyethylene sterol ether, and (C) 5-20 mass % of a specific polyoxyethylene dialkyl ester and/or ether. The α-gel composition is generated by adding water.

Abstract: The present invention provides an oil-in-oil type cosmetic composition that has excellent transfer resistance after application, a luster, favorable spreadability during application, and also excellent stability. The oil-in-oil type cosmetic composition comprises (a) 5 to 80% by mass of non-volatile hydrocarbon oil, (b) 1 to 70% by mass of non-volatile silicone oil, and (c) 0.1 to 10% by mass of dextrin fatty acid ester. Preferably, the non-volatile hydrocarbon oil (a) and the non-volatile silicone oil (b) are formulated at a ratio (mass ratio) of (a)/[(a)+(b)]=0.4 to 0.8.

Abstract: The present invention provides an intermediate composition enabling to prepare easily and steadily an α-gel-containing O/W emulsion cosmetic that has a very small viscosity change over time and is excellent in emulsion stability, without using a cooling device that has a heavy burden on cost and the environment, and a production method thereof.An α-gel intermediate composition consisting of (A) 20 to 80 mass % of a mixture containing one or more higher alcohols having 16 or more carbon atoms and an anionic surfactant in the mole ratio of 3:2 to 5:1, and (B) 20 to 80 mass % of a mixture containing one or more water-soluble solvents having the IOB value of 1.5 to 3.5 and water in the mass ratio of 5:5 to 8:2, andwherein the composition is a liquid consisting of a bicontinuous microemulsion phase or a lamellar liquid crystal-dispersed bicontinuous microemulsion phase at 65 to 85° C. and a solid at room temperature.
