Abstract: A method suppresses feedback in a hearing instrument. A microphone generates an input signal and a loudspeaker generates an acoustic signal which is partially fed back to the microphone via an acoustic feedback path. An intermediate signal is generated along a main signal path depending on the input signal, and an output signal is formed on the basis of the intermediate signal. A voice activity of a user is monitored, a transfer function of an electro-acoustic closed signal loop formed by the main signal path and the feedback path is estimated, that, depending on the transfer function of the closed signal loop and the voice activity of the user, the intermediate signal is decorrelated to form the output signal. A compensation signal is generated from the output signal and is fed to the input signal for feedback compensation, and the output signal is fed to the loudspeaker for reproduction.

Abstract: A method improves a picked-up signal in a hearing system. The hearing system has at least one hearing device, particularly a hearing aid. The hearing aid device has an associated first directional microphone that has an adjustable first directional characteristic with a preferential direction. The first directional microphone converts sound into a first signal that is adopted in the picked-up signal. A speech activity of a user of the hearing system is monitored, and recognition of a speech activity of the user prompts the preferential direction of the first directional characteristic to be adjusted in comparison with a frontal direction of the user such that the sound sensitivity of the first directional microphone undergoes attenuation in the frontal direction.

Abstract: A method for suppressing interference noise in an acoustic system with a microphone that generates an input signal and a loudspeaker that generates an acoustic signal which partially feeds back to the microphone. A first intermediate signal is formed along a primary signal path as a function of the input signal, and an output signal is formed via a frequency distortion. The output signal is coupled into a signal feedback path. A second intermediate signal is formed in the signal feedback path via a decorrelation and used as an input value for an adaptive filter. The adaptive filter generates a compensation signal which compensates the input signal. A third intermediate signal is formed from the input signal and/or compensated input signal, which is used as an input value for the adaptive filter. The output signal is fed to the loudspeaker for reproduction.

Abstract: A method for directional signal processing of signals of a microphone array, including first and second microphones generating first and second input signals from an ambient sound, uses the first input signal to form a reference signal transformed into the frequency domain, thereby generating a frequency-space reference signal. The first and second input signals are transformed into the frequency domain, and a first frequency-space directional signal is formed in the frequency domain using the transformed first and second input signals. A frequency-resolved comparison of the frequency-space reference signal with the first frequency-space directional signal or signal derived therefrom in the frequency domain, is used to generate frequency-dependent first gain factors to generate a time filter in the time domain. The reference signal is filtered by the time filter and an output signal is generated from the reference signal filtered by the time filter.

Abstract: A method performs directional signal processing for a hearing instrument. First and second input signals are generated by first and second input transducers, respectively, from a sound signal. The first front intermediate signal and a first rear intermediate signal are each formed from the first and second input signals. A first superposition of the first front intermediate signal and the first rear intermediate signal is formed by a complex-value first superposition parameter and is adapted based on the first superposition parameter. A complex value of the first superposition parameter resulting from the adaptation of the first superposition is converted into a first alternative parameter and a second alternative parameter. An output signal is generated based on the first alternative parameter, the limited second alternative parameter and a superposition of the first and second input signals.

Abstract: A method operates a hearing aid which has at least one input transducer and at least one output transducer. An input signal is generated by the at least one input transducer from a sound signal in the environment. From the input signal, a classification of a hearing situation of the environment is determined and/or at least one of four parameters including tonality, loudness, stationarity and reverberation time is determined for the sound signal of the environment. A first intermediate signal is generated in dependence on the input signal by signal processing. Wherein by the classification of the hearing situation and by at least one of the four parameters of tonality, loudness, stationarity and reverberation time, at least one parameter of a frequency distortion is predetermined. The frequency distortion predetermined in this way is applied to the first intermediate signal.

Abstract: A method for operating a hearing system is defined, wherein a sound signal emanating from a sound source is measured by a plurality of microphones, which are fitted in different devices. Each of the microphones detects the sound signal and generates therefrom a microphone signal. The hearing system is binaural and two of the devices are each embodied as a hearing aid. For at least the two microphone signals from the microphones of the hearing aids there is determined an individual reverberation time in each case, and the individual reverberation times are combined in a dataset from which a general reverberation time is determined. An operating parameter of the hearing system is adjusted according to the general reverberation time. A corresponding hearing system is also defined.

Abstract: A method for eliminating acoustic reverberation in an audio signal. First and second level measurements are performed on the audio signal. The first level measurement uses a first attack parameter and a first decay parameter to measure a first attack time and a first decay time. The second level measurement uses a second attack parameter and a second decay parameter to form a second attack time that is identical to the first attack time and a second decay time that is longer than the first decay time. A difference between the first and second level measurements is calculated. The difference and the second level measurement are used to estimate a reverberation interference level, and the first level measurement and the reverberation interference level are used to ascertain a gain parameter for the audio signal.

Abstract: A method for directional signal processing for a hearing aid includes generating first and second input signals from an ambient sound signal using first and second input transducers of the hearing aid and forming first and second directional signals based on the input signals. The directional signals have relative attenuations in directions of first and second useful signal sources. First and second amplification parameters for amplification of first and second useful signals of the signal sources are ascertained. A reference directional characteristic is defined for a reference directional signal. Based on the amplification parameters as a function of the reference directional characteristic, corrected first and second amplification parameters are ascertained so that an output directional signal, formed as a sum of the directional signals weighted by using the corrected amplification parameters, merges into a linearly scaled reference directional signal, if the first and second amplification parameters are equal.
