    Abstract: A liquid crystal display and a method for driving the same. The liquid crystal display includes: gate lines arranged in a row direction; data lines arranged in a column direction; and subpixels arranged in basic units of eight subpixels. Each subpixel is each connected to one of the gate lines and one of the data lines, and the subpixels are continuously arranged along a row and are arranged in a matrix. In the basic units, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a first subpixel to a fourth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a fifth subpixel to an eighth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, and polarities of the fourth subpixel and the fifth subpixel are the same.

    Abstract: A display device includes an afterimage compensator generating output grayscales by applying at least one of first and second weights to input grayscales when the input grayscales correspond to a still image, and pixels displaying an image based on the output grayscales. The afterimage compensator applies the first weight having an initial value greater than 1 to the input grayscales of a first group, and converges the first weight to 1, and applies the second weight having initial values less than 1 to the input grayscales of a second group, and converges the second weights to 1.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel including areas including pixels electrically connected to a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of data lines; a gate driver that supplies a gate signal to each of the plurality of gate lines; an average grayscale calculator that receives input image data, and calculating average grayscale values with respect to the areas; an area determiner that compares the average grayscale values with a low grayscale reference value to determine a low grayscale area among the areas, and output a charge boosting signal; a memory that stores gate clock signal information according to a grayscale; and a gate clock signal generator that supplies a gate clock signal corresponding to the areas to the gate driver by reflecting the charge boosting signal and the gate clock signal information according to the grayscale.
