Abstract: A display device includes at least one light source array configured to provide a display panel with light, a dimming signal generating unit configured to receive an image data signal and generate a dimming signal, a first comparator configured to receive the dimming signal output from the dimming signal generating unit and a preset critical value and generate a comparison signal, a dimming modulating unit configured to receive the comparison signal output from the first comparator and the dimming signal output from the dimming signal generating unit and modulate the dimming signal, a constant current controller configured to receive the dimming signal output from the dimming modulating unit and a voltage from a sensor node, and to control a light driving current driving the light source array, and a resistor controller configured to change resistors connected to the sensor node by the comparison signal output from the first comparator.

Each scan block includes a plurality of local dimming blocks. The light source driver includes a plurality of channels configured to output light source driving signals to the plurality of local dimming blocks. The light source driving signal includes a light source intensity value representing a light intensity of a local dimming block from among the plurality of local dimming blocks and a delay value representing a degree of a delay of the local dimming block. The delay value is determined by a scan delay value varied according to the plurality of scan blocks and a delay parameter.

Abstract: A display device having a backlight which includes a first quantity of light source blocks that are individually driven at separate duty ratios. The display device includes pixels having a second quantity that is greater than the first quantity. The pixels are configured to determine a light transmission factor for light emitted from the light source blocks. A grayscale compensation unit is configured to calculate color shift amounts of the pixels based on the duty ratios of the light source blocks and compensate input grayscale values for the pixels based on the color shift amounts to correct color shift.

The driving controller processes input image data according to a variable input frequency and generates a data signal having a varied frame length. The data driver converts the data signal into a data voltage and outputs the data voltage to the display panel. The driving controller determines a variable frequency mode and generates an asymmetric data signal including a positive data signal and a negative data signal which are asymmetric with respect to a common voltage for a same grayscale value in the variable frequency mode.

Abstract: A display device includes a backlight unit including a plurality of light emitting blocks, a first controller configured to generate first block representative value information for first pixel blocks based on first image data, and a second controller configured to generate second block representative value information for second pixel blocks based on second image data. The first and second controllers generate duty information for the plurality of light emitting blocks based on the first and second block representative value information, and generate light profile information of the backlight unit. The first controller compensates the first image data based on the light profile information, and the second controller compensates the second image data based on the light profile information.
