    Abstract: A display device having a backlight which includes a first quantity of light source blocks that are individually driven at separate duty ratios. The display device includes pixels having a second quantity that is greater than the first quantity. The pixels are configured to determine a light transmission factor for light emitted from the light source blocks. A grayscale compensation unit is configured to calculate color shift amounts of the pixels based on the duty ratios of the light source blocks and compensate input grayscale values for the pixels based on the color shift amounts to correct color shift.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display and a method for driving the same. The liquid crystal display includes: gate lines arranged in a row direction; data lines arranged in a column direction; and subpixels arranged in basic units of eight subpixels. Each subpixel is each connected to one of the gate lines and one of the data lines, and the subpixels are continuously arranged along a row and are arranged in a matrix. In the basic units, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a first subpixel to a fourth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, polarities between adjacent subpixels from a fifth subpixel to an eighth subpixel along the row are opposite to each other, and polarities of the fourth subpixel and the fifth subpixel are the same.

The timing controller includes a first compensator configured generate first data by correcting the external input data using at least one of optical measurement information, a threshold voltage of each of the driving transistors, mobility information, dimming information, and temperature information, and an afterimage compensator configured to generate second data based on age information of each light emitting element and the first data, generate third data based on a current amount corresponding to the first data and a current amount corresponding to the second data, and generate the age information by accumulating the third data.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel, a driving controller and a data driver. The driving controller processes input image data according to a variable input frequency and generates a data signal having a varied frame length. The data driver converts the data signal into a data voltage and outputs the data voltage to the display panel. The driving controller determines a variable frequency mode and generates an asymmetric data signal including a positive data signal and a negative data signal which are asymmetric with respect to a common voltage for a same grayscale value in the variable frequency mode.
