Abstract: A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) device is capable of consuming relatively less power and significantly reducing flickering that may occur when the LCD device is driven by low frequency, the LCD device including: a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a gate line; a data line intersecting the gate line; a timing controller outputting a gate control signal by a frequency of about 15 hertz (Hz) to about 30 Hz; a first electrode on the first substrate; and a second electrode on the first substrate, the second electrode spaced apart from the first electrode. The first electrode includes a plurality of first branch electrodes having an angle of about 9 degrees to about 30 degrees with respect to a normal line which is orthogonal to the gate line.

Abstract: A display device includes a display panel including pixels, pixel electrodes disposed in pixel areas corresponding to the pixels, arranged at a first distance from each other along a first direction, and extending in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a black matrix disposed in a non-pixel area adjacent to each pixel area, where a width of the black matrix between the pixel areas and the first distance are set to allow a variation rate of brightness of each pixel arranged in a same pixel column and a pixel row to be in a range from about +2% to about −2% when a gray-scale level of the pixels respectively disposed at left and right sides of each pixel arranged in the same pixel column is changed to a different gray-scale level in the pixel row from a gray-scale level in a previous pixel row.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a first insulating substrate, in which a pixel area is defined, a gate line formed on the first insulating substrate, a data line crossing the gate line, and a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line. The second substrate is opposite to the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates and includes a liquid crystal composition with a nematic-isotropic phase transition temperature (Tni) of 79° C. or above.
