    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a flat panel display is disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes forming a plurality of display elements over a first substrate and forming over the first substrate or a second substrate a plurality of sealing units respectively surrounding the display elements. The method further c includes arranging the first and second substrates to face each other and emitting a laser beam to the sealing units so as to bond the first and second substrates. The emitting includes (a) emitting a first laser beam, from a first laser source, clockwise or counterclockwise along perimeters of the sealing units and (b) substantially simultaneously emitting a second laser beam, from a second laser source, to facing sides of adjacent ones of the sealing units.

    Abstract: A display device includes a substrate, an encapsulation portion on the substrate, a seal portion between the substrate and the encapsulation portion, and at least one dummy seal portion around the seal portion. The substrate and the encapsulation portion at least partially overlap each other in a first direction perpendicular to a surface of the substrate. The dummy seal portion is, when viewed in the first direction, arranged in an area between an edge of the seal portion and a boundary line of an overlapping area of the substrate and the encapsulation portion.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display layer including an active area including a plurality of pixel areas, and a peripheral area adjacent to the active area, an insulating layer disposed on the display layer, the insulating layer including at least one first opening overlapping the plurality of pixel areas, and at least one second opening in the peripheral area, a refractive index layer disposed on the insulating layer, having a refractive index greater than a refractive index of the insulating layer, and spaced apart from the at least one second opening, and a polarizing layer overlapping the refractive index layer.
