Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a camera including an image sensor including a plurality of pixels, a memory, and a processor that controls the camera. Each pixel included in the plurality of pixels includes a plurality of photodiodes and a microlens covering the plurality of photodiodes. The processor obtains phase images and image data for an external object using the plurality of photodiodes of the image sensor and authenticates the external object using the phase images and the image data. In addition, various embodiments recognized through the specification are possible.

The processor obtains a first image at least based on light output through at least some of the plurality of pixels and reflected by an external object coming into contact with the transparent member using the image sensor, performs authentication on the external object at least based on the at least one template using the first image, generates a second image of the external object at least based on the first image when quality of the first image corresponds to a given condition based on a result of the authentication, and performs authentication on the external object at least based on the at least one template using the second image.

In addition, various embodiments recognized through the specification are possible.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the disclosure relate to an electronic device for determining a matching model used to authenticate biometric information, and an operating method thereof. An electronic device according to various embodiments of the disclosure may include a biometric sensor, and a processor operatively coupled with the biometric sensor. The processor may be configured to identify a security level of a service requested to be executed, determine a confidence level of user's biometric data received via the biometric sensor, determine a matching model to be used to authenticate the received user's biometric data based on the identified security level and the determined confidence level, and authenticate the received user's biometric data based on the determined matching model. Various other embodiments are also possible.
