Abstract: An electronic device is provided, which includes a touch panel; a display; a cover window disposed on the touch panel, wherein the cover window includes a first region corresponding to the touch panel and a second region corresponding to a region outside the touch panel, and wherein the first region includes a first sub-region corresponding to an inner region of the touch panel and a second sub-region corresponding to an outer region of the touch panel; and a processor configured to provide a UI through the display, obtain a signal of a touch input from the touch panel, determine a region in which the touch input initially occurred, based on the signal, determine a type of the input based on the region in which the touch input initially occurred, and execute an event corresponding to the determined type of the touch input, based on the user interface.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling a display so as to reduce power consumption in an electronic device having a plurality of processors are provided. The apparatus includes a display and a control unit. The display is configured to display information formed by a first image and a second image. The first image corresponds to a partial region of the information, and the second image corresponds to a background region of the information. The control unit includes a first processor and a second processor. The processor may be configured to transmit the first image to the second processor in response to a request for displaying the information on the display. The second processor may be configured to store the second image in a memory and control the display to display the received first image together with the second image.

Abstract: Electronic devices including touch circuits and method of operating the electronic devices are provided. An electronic device includes a display; a touch circuit configured to detect a touch put on the display; a processor; and a memory. The touch circuit is further configured to acquire touch sensing information representing the sensitivity levels of inputs to respective multiple nodes of the touch circuit, identify information associated with a user's ear touching the electronic device, on the basis of the touch sensing information; and transfer, to the processor, the information associated with the ear touching. The memory stores instructions, which when executed, cause the processor to control the display to an on-state and to control the display to switch the display from the on-state to an off-state based on the information associated with the ear touching, which is obtained from the touch circuit.
