Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling an active time period during a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) operation in a User Equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system. The method includes awaking, by the UE, at a start position of the active time period; receiving a control signal indicating that the active time period should be terminated; terminating the active time period in response to the control signal; and entering a sleep state.
