    Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device and a geofence management method thereof, the electronic device comprising: a wireless communication circuit for providing wireless communication by means of a low power wide area network (LPWAN); a location measuring circuit for detecting the location of the electronic device; a processor electrically connected to the wireless communication circuit and the location measuring circuit; and a memory electrically connected to the processor, wherein the memory may store instructions enabling, during execution, the processor to receive information on a plurality of geofences from an external server via the wireless communication circuit, determine whether the detected location is within two or more geofences, select one of the two or more geofences on the basis of at least a portion of the information, and transmit a message including the location and the selected geofence to the external server via the wireless communication circuit. Other various embodiments are possible.

    Abstract: An electronic device and method are disclosed. The electronic device includes a communication module, a processor and a memory including instructions executable by the processor to implement the method, including detect whether a message is received through the communication module from an external electronic device during a predesignated time as indicated for a registered event stored in a schedule application, in response to determining that the message is received, parsing the received message to detect whether information obtained by the parsing corresponds to the registered event, and in response to detecting that the obtained information corresponds to the registered event, determine that the registered event is completed.

    Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and a device for managing an operation mode of an electronic device which uses a low power wide area network (LPWAN). According to various embodiments of the present invention, the electronic device comprises: a communication circuit for providing wireless communication by means of LPWAN; a state detection circuit for monitoring the movement of the electronic device; a location measuring circuit for detecting the location of the electronic device; a processor electrically connected to the communication circuit, the state detection circuit and the location measuring circuit; a memory electrically connected to the processor and storing instructions enabling the processor to transmit, using the communication circuit, at least one message including the location; and a battery for supplying power to the communication circuit, the state detection circuit, the location measuring circuit, the processor and the memory, wherein the electronic device may be configured so as to operate in one state among a first state or a second state on the basis of the monitored movement, wherein, in the first state, the electronic device transmits the message in intervals of a first time, and maintains the processor in a low-power or sleep mode during all other times, and in the second state, the processor is in the low-power or sleep mode, and after the monitored movement exceeds a threshold value during a first selected duration, the processor wakes up and transmits the message. In addition, various embodiments are possible.
