An image forming apparatus having a toner saving function is disclosed. The image forming apparatus includes a printer configured to perform a printing job, a communicator configured to communicate with a host device, a storage configured to store information of a toner saving option which is differently set to respective data characteristics, and a controller configured to, in response to a print data being received from the host device through the communicator, control the printer to detect characteristics of the print data, and print the print data according to the toner saving option which is set to correspond to the detected characteristics.

Provided is a color compensation method in an image forming apparatus. The color compensation method may include imaging a first color chart by a first image forming apparatus, scanning the imaged first color chart, comparing information regarding the scanned first color chart and information regarding a reference color chart to determine an international color consortium (ICC) profile of the first image forming apparatus, and performing color compensation on the first image forming apparatus based on the determined ICC profile.

An image scanning apparatus includes a storage configured to store an image file, a user interface unit configured to receive selection of the image file stored in the storage and to display a thumbnail image corresponding to each of a plurality of pages contained in the selected image file, and a controller, in response to any one of the displayed thumbnail image being selected for a predetermined time period or more, to perform at least one of order change, delete, and partition of a page corresponding to the thumbnail image selected for the predetermined time period or more to edit the selected image file.

The image forming apparatus includes: a storage configured to store a color conversion table; an image former configured to print a compensation chart corresponding to the color conversion table; a scanner configured to scan the printed compensation chart; and a changer configured to understand a range of brightness that the image former is able to represent using the scanned compensation chart, generate a gamma curve corresponding to the understood range of brightness, and change the color conversion table based on the generated gamma curve.

An image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a communication interface unit which receives print data, a rendering unit which converts the received print data into a bitmap image by rendering, a binarization unit which generates binary data by carrying out halftoning with respect to the bitmap image, a data combining unit which generates multi-bit data by combining a plurality of successive binary data of the generated binary data, and a print engine which forms an image on a print paper using the generated multi-bit data.
