Abstract: Methods for handling a data connection session in an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network are provided. The method includes configuring a S50 interface between a Mobility Management Entity (MME) and a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) entity in the IMS network, and notifying a User Equipment (UE) about a Mobile Terminated (MT) Voice over LTE (VOLTE) call by using the MME. Another method includes configuring a SBI interface between an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) entity and the Policy Control Function (PCF) entity in the IMS network, and includes notifying a UE about a MT Voice over New Radio (VoNR) call by using the AMF entity.

Abstract: A method for optimizing an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) packet data network (PDN) connection, includes: establishing, by a user equipment (UE), an IMS PDN connection and an internet PDN connection with at least one data network element of a communication network, wherein a primary IP address corresponding to the IMS PDN connection and a secondary IP address corresponding to the internet PDN connection are allocated to the UE by the at least one data network element; sharing, by the UE with an IMS, the secondary IP address over the internet PDN connection, before disconnecting the IMS PDN connection by the communication network; receiving, by the UE from the IMS, a mobile terminated (MT) call notification using the secondary IP address over the internet PDN connection; and based on the received MT call notification, re-establishing, by the UE, the IMS PDN connection.

Abstract: A method for controlling an execution (signalling) of a non-3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) interworking function (N3IWF) is provided. The method includes splitting a signalling of a N3IWF into a control plane signalling and a user plane signalling, where the control plane signalling is handled by an N3IWF-C device and the user plane signalling is handled by an N3IWF-U device. Further, the method includes adding the E10 interface between the N3IWF-C device and the N3IWF-U device. Further, the method includes monitoring the E10 interface, whereas the E10 interface includes an E10AP. The N3IWF-C device and the N3IWF-U device enables a plurality of services between the N3IWF-C device and the N3IWF-U device. The plurality of services includes an interface management service, a bear management service, a trace management service, and a load management service.
