Abstract: A battery management system (BMS) manages a battery using a master device, a sub-master device corresponding to each of battery packs, and a slave device corresponding to each of battery cells. Data is transmitted from the master device through the sub-master device to the slave device using an electrical signal, and the data includes a control message for controlling a battery cell. Data transmitted from the slave device through the sub-master device to the master device using an optical signal, and the data includes information associated with a battery cell acquired in the slave device.
