Methods and devices for image data encoding are provided. Image data is created using at least one image captured by a camera of the electronic device. First encoded image data is created by encoding at least a portion of the image data in a first manner. Second encoded image data is created by encoding the at least a portion of the image data in a second manner. The second manner is different from the first manner. The first encoded data is stored in a memory of the electronic device. The second encoded data is transmitted from the electronic device to an external device.

Various embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and device for an electronic device to provide a multimedia service in an IMS network environment. According to various embodiments of the present invention, an electronic device includes: a wireless communication module; a processor operatively connected with the wireless communication module; and a memory operatively connected with the processor, wherein the memory may store instructions which, when executed, cause the processor to: establish a session for a media service with a counterpart electronic device by using the communication module; transmit a packet including a first message related to the use of a quality service to the counterpart electronic device after the session is established; determine whether the counterpart electronic device can use the quality service on the basis of a second message in a packet received from the counterpart electronic device; enable at least one quality improvement function on the basis of the second message if the counterpart electronic device can use the quality service; and while the media service is being performed, transmit to the counterpart electronic device, a packet having improved quality on the basis of the quality improvement function. Various other embodiments are also possible.

An electronic device and an operation method of the electronic device according to various embodiments may include; a communication module comprising communication circuitry configured to transmit and/or receive data using a call channel established via a call connection to an external electronic device; and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to control the electronic device to: transmit a call connection request message to establish a call channel between an external electronic device and the electronic device; receive a response message from the external electronic device; based on capability information of the external electronic device related to the call connection and included in the response message, determine whether to pre-process a content transmitted via the call connection using a transmission filter configured to change a quality of the content; transmit, to the external electronic device, a call connection confirmation message indicating whether to pre-process the content; and control the communication module to complete establishing of the call channel, wherein the connection request message includes capability information of the electronic device related to the filter.

The electronic device includes a communication circuit configured to transmit or receive data using a call channel established through a call connection with an external electronic device, and a processor configured to transmit content, which is pre-processed using a first transmission filter, to the external electronic device through the call channel, receive a first real-time control protocol (RTCP) message transmitted by the external electronic device through the call channel, identify a status of the call channel, based on the first RTCP message, determine whether or not to perform an operation of pre-processing the content to be transmitted to the external electronic device using a second transmission filter, transmit a second RTCP message using the second transmission filter to the external electronic device, and perform transmission of the content, based on the second transmission filter.
