    摘要： An Internet server is operatively coupled to a configurable set-top terminal (STT), thereby providing remote access to the configurable STT through the Internet server. The Internet server is configured to provide web-pages that preferably emulate the user interface for the configurable STT. In that regard, a subscriber can log into the Internet server and configure the configurable STT from various devices that are Internet-compatible. The Internet server is configured to translate input by the subscriber into configuration information for the configurable STT that is pushed out to the configurable STT directly after being received from the subscriber.

Performance test results are received from the DHCT over the communication channel. A DHCT is designated as having a hard disk failure if the test results are below a threshold.

Replacement material can be inserted into a presentation from a tuned source in a networked multi-room system (NMS) with a primary device and at least one remote device. Ad-insertion tags in the presentation correspond with commercial breaks in the presentation. Replacement material, such as new commercials, that may be user specific, can be inserted at the tags. The presentation can be recorded to a DVD or played from the primary device to remote devices in the NMS. Different devices could display the same presentation, but with different commercials.

The networked multi-room system is made up of one primary device and one or more remote devices where the primary device includes an indication of status of at least one of the remote devices. For example, a user of the primary device can choose to receive a display of status change each time one of the remote devices toggles between on, off, changes to a different channel, or presents a recorded program from the primary device. The user also has the option of creating a PIP view on a display device coupled to the primary device showing the current tuned signal being displayed by one of the remote devices.
