    Abstract: A rotating heat pipe is used for temperature control of electric motors and generators and other rotating heat generating assemblies to ensure their proper operation. The heat pipe is integral with the shaft, and unlike conventional devices, incorporates a solid-liquid phase change material as the heat transfer/transport material. In addition, it comprises a scraped surface heat exchange mechanism at the heat dissipation region to allow for high cooling rates as required. This scraped surface mechanism is preferentially driven by a magnetic coupling to eliminate issues related to leaks of the heat transfer material.

Though it is particularly well suited for cooling high power, compact motors used in automotive applications, it can also be used to dissipate heat efficiently from other rotating assemblies to ensure that their temperatures remain within acceptable limits.     Abstract: A solar powered pump that maximizes available energy usage under variable insolation conditions is disclosed. It also permits the integration of parameters such as minimum flow control, set point operation, etc., without the use of additional sensors, thereby reducing the overall cost of the system. It comprises a solar array or other intermittent power source, a motor drive system that provides the power to an electric motor through a variable output power module and a flow loop comprising a pump coupled to the motor, valves and one or more sensors for flow control. The variable output power module uses data from at least one of the sensors to maximize power utilization by maximizing the flow rate in the fluid circuit/loop.

    Abstract: This invention relates to temperature control of hot beverages served in mugs/cups. It is particularly well suited for ensuring that temperatures of hot drinks can be maintained in an optimum/preferred range for long periods of time. It can also be used for heating and/or temperature control of other food items such as soups and gravy, as well as fluids/suspensions/slurries in various consumer, commercial and industrial applications. The invention achieves this by utilizing one or more compact heating blocks that comprises an electrical energy storage module with electric heating, power receiving and recharging circuits that are encapsulated together to permit total immersion in a hot drink. During use, these are be added to a drink to maintain it at a high temperature in a manner similar to ice-cubes that are used with cold drinks. A separate charger is then used to charge/recharge the heating block(s) in a non-contact manner after each use.
